I think there is a mix-up here. In my Scott (2017), the value for this series in mint condition is $23.00, MNH $58.00.
That is more or less in line with the value in Michel (2012 edition), which is 30 euros for mint.
These stamps are only very expensive in used condition. Scott values them at $700 for the set. Michel says 300 euros.
What strikes me is that classic Italy has gone up in price a lot. I also checked an old Yvert & Tellier from 2005 and it has the set at 10 euros mint, 24 used.
So you tell me... it seems that older Italy has become very popular, like for instance China. I do not know if there are really that little used copies to justify the c.v. At least Michel says 200,000 sets were made, so it is not really rare in terms of the printed numbers.

Well my Scott G-I Catalog is older from 2016. I do not collect any countries myself between G and I - so I have not updated that volume in awhile.
I took a picture of what it shows for these stamps. I was shocked amd began to wonder about the values for many of the older Italy issues.
Thanks, Steve
I am more than 100 percent sure that's a typo. They moved the decimal point two places to the right. I think it should be 5.75 for each stamp and 23.00 for the set. Otherwise it would not make any sense: 2300.00 for a mint set and 64.00 for a mint never hinged set? Bring out the hinges and get rich!
As I said I saw some for sale on EBAY and Hipstamp and they are not expensive so YES it must have been a typo in the 2016 Catalog I have. At least that mystery is solved ! Thanks Jansimon !!!
Scott 2020, the stamps are valued at $5.75 each.
I need an expert on Italy stamps.... I am going thru an old folder my father had of stamps from Italy. My question is are the prices shown in the Scott catalog for Italian stamps highly inflated ? I guess I never paid much attention to it but I have these 3 of the 4 stamps from this set 143 - 145. The Scott Catalog shows the Mint catalog value of $575.00 per stamp. However looking on EBAY & Hipstamp - I see these stamps being sold for about $12.00 for the complete set of the 4 stamps. Does this mean the catalog values in Scott for all of the earlier issues are much higher than what the selling prices really are ? Thanks, Steve
