We've had 48 visitors and not even a guess yet. And I thought this was going to be an easy quiz.....NOT!
Let's try for the next clue and let it sit over night to see if anyone on the other side of the earth has any ideas. LOL
Mike
Oh yeah, that ought to bring in a lot of guesses.
Looks like a young Christopher Columbus..
Could it be Cape Verde, 30c from 1952 (michel #282) (sorry do not have the Scott equivalent right now)
Christopher Columbus is incorrect, sorry Bob!
Michel #282 is also wrong, no matter what catalog is used, Jansimon. (just as a hint for your diligence in selecting a country of identification, Cape Verde is not even the country. But don't tell anyone I gave you that little secret)
OK, we have two different guesses, so let's get some excitement going and make more guesses. Here is another clue to help you along in your travels: Maybe a visit to a nice restaurant would behoove you!
Good luck with that!
Mike
I really thought that clue would get plenty of responses, but then again I don't get paid to think, or so the wife says.
Another nice place to visit is the main eating establishment on a cruise ship, while you chew on this next clue:
I certainly have to hand it to you, if you can get much out of that clue! ha ha ha ha ha
Mike
That last posting was just mean, but sometimes you just have to be a little devilish.
This next clue is more enlightening, I promise! (or do I have my fingers crossed, behind my back?) Whatever....!
You must be angelic to figure out what this is:
Mike
holy moses I'm stumped, ummmm Marco Polo bringing noodles back from China??? LOL now that's a SWAG!!!
Well let's see:
Holy Moses - getting warm?
Marco Polo - chilly!
noodles - ice cubes.
China - it hurts to laugh.
SWAG - you need more of these.
Here is another great clue for you to SWAG...
I've got my eyes on you.....
Oh boy, well we're into some kind of Christian Saint with a halo, ummmm Christ, the loaves and fishes, just can't recognize the stamp. Darn - we need some world wide collectors. This Ireland collector is stumped and all out of SWAGs!!!
Come, come, now. Don't blame it on your lack of collecting interests, since we had a young lady actually guess one MSQ on the first guess and to boot, she didn't even collect that countries stamps.
Now, let's analyze your latest input:
Christian Saint, with a halo - Bingo (but you probably need to know the stamp)
Christ - not quite, but could be close by.
loaves and fishes - these could be associated with an earlier hint.
Darn - not in this stamp.
Clue: - yes you earned another picture!
Stamp was issued in Brooklyn, NY on April 1, 1899 for the turn of the century.
Richaard
Good guess Richaard, but this cancellation shows many years after that, but I will offer you another glue, just for guessing.
Good luck, this one could choke you up,
Mike
Twelve hours without a guess, what a mess. So, no one got choked up on that last clue, so sorry! All right, this could be the key to your solving this MSQ:
bonÅancon,
Mike
Saint Peter with the keys to the kingdom???
Cowabunga dudette, would you care to expand on that? To win you must identify the stamp. You did notice I made no mention of your comment, didn't you?
Mike
Well, I expect we have been looking for a French stamp from 1972 (SG 1946), "Le Maitre de Moulins".
Leave up to Jill. Congratulations Jill, you've done it again!
Let's have a well earned round of applause for Jill!! Hip, Hip, Hooray, Jill.
I actually learned a lot about this stamp, after I posted it in the MSQ and it was very interesting.
and the rest of the strip connected to the MSQ stamp:
Congratulations, Jill! I see you still have the ID skill!
Seriously Jill, how DO you figure these out? You are the QUEEN of MSQ. I'm absolutely baffled. I already knew you would be the one to figure it out. Have you memorised the entire Scotts?
WTG JILL!!! Impressive!!!
Thanks for your kind accolades
When I checked this morning, I was expecting Philatelia to have nailed it.
Thanks Mike for putting up another of your MSQs, and entertaining us with those wonderful clues.
Sorry Kelly, I can't give away any of my secrets. I have to say that I have only ever seen the cover of a Scott catalogue but not what's inside. However I have had a long-standing affair with a Mr Stanley Gibbons, and am blessed with a good memory.
Awww thanks for cheering me on Jill, but I wouldn't have gotten that one in a million years! I don't think I've ever even seen that stamp before.
Are you eidetic?
Thanks for a fun game CapeStampMan!!!
Jill - your affair has definitely worked to your advantage - congrats. I bow to the Queen of the MSQ.
Jill cheats! She uses a Ouija Board!
SURPRISE, it's another one of those wonderful Mystery Stamp Quiz.
Newcomers might say "What is a MSQ?", so let me tell you!
I will be periodically showing clues of an actual used stamp, and you try to guess the country and catalog number of that stamp before anyone else.
The prize will be the stamp it's self, plus three others that attached to the same piece of envelope.
The only rule is, you have to be first to correctly identify the stamp. Put your thinking caps on and GOOD LUCK!
Mike
Oh, by the way, these clues are greatly enlarged, so not actual size. Some of us are of the older generation and need to use spectacles to be able to see things more better. LOL
