Does anyone else give themselves headaches trying to sort out the various printings of these pesky stamps, or am I just weird.

re: Modern-ish definitive varieties

I find that correlating the Steiner pages to Scott helps but sometimes they vary on perf sizes, one will say 10 another 9.75. Also Scott (at least my older 2014 copy) does not always reference further issues of the same stamp under the original entry.
Perhaps a separate listing of these definitive type stamps, akin to those at the rear of the Unitrade Canada catalogue would be of assistance. I guess at the end of the day I just keep plodding along, hopefully getting the stamps in their correct places.

There is / was a seller on eBay that created summary sheets for all these. Very helpful.

The first person I thought of when reading your post was oldtriguy. I too delve deeply into these mysteries.

re: Modern-ish definitive varieties

To me it looks too busy, sort of crowded. I have an ordinary gauge from ClearVue and an Instanta style, but have just ordered one from FvH in Vancouver that goes down to lower numbers.
This is from Frank's site;
Clear Plastic Perforation Gauge for Large Toothed Modern Canada Die Cut Definitives

from Size Perf 5.3 to Perf 10……………………NOW BACK IN STOCK…..…Our Special $ 3.95

The ones I have do not go below 8 and do not have the in-between sizes, like 8.5 or 9.2.
