Michel states that the series is about the declaration of 7 November 1987 and this stamp shows "a child, grainfield and birds", with the declaration of 7-11-1987 being an euphemism for the coup d'etat in which president Bourguiba (who had been in office since 1957) was replaced by the prime minister Ben Ali, who became the dictator until he was ousted in the revolution of 2011.
sheepshanks,
Thanks for reminding me of that old post. At the time I was just trying to make sense of the stamp.
Thanks all!
After sheepshanks reminded me of a post from 8 years ago, and with the info Jansimon added, I have FINALLY created a page for a stamp that has been on the backlog for at least 8 years. It's not unusual to let my Topical collection go dormant for years at a time, but I finally decided to nail down this one stamp and sheepshanks bailed me out! The reason this has taken so long is that Scott says the stamp is of a Mermaid. I have a topical Mermaid collection, but this stamp did NOT seem to fit. I had my suspicions, but other priorities took precedence and I just let this one stamp languish. I finally decided to prove it and here is the page that will go into my "This is NOT a Mermaid" section of my collection. Thanks to everyone!

wher'd you deisgn that?

I am interested in how SG and Michel describe Scott #935 from Tunisia. Per Scott, it was issued Mar 21, 1988 350m described as "Mermaid, doves, natl coat of arms". But when I look at it, I see a shirttail flapping behind the girl as she runs through a field of wheat or some other grain. (I have NO IDEA about that bizarre protrusion from her forehead unless that is supposed to be a horn and this is a mythological character that would be recognized in Libya).
This would not be the first time I have encountered this issue. Poland Scott 2832 is described as "The Little Mermaid" by both Scott and SG, but that is clearly wrong. Michel correctly describes it as "Thumbelina". Michael Numbers and SheepShanks helped me out with that one!
