Also one of my favorites. I like how the airplane can be aligned differently (and even upside down )
And of course there were two more stamps in this series issued later in 1918 as the cost of sending an airmail letter was reduced. But they are both single color and not a two pass process so the plane is always aligned the same. Nice but not quite as interesting.
Some of us get fanatical about that stamp design. Since I'm not a billionaire, I had to find another way to satisfy my craving.
The plane printing phase can be really off center:

@banknoteguy
You have a very nice stamp example, best extreme example I'v ever seen.
Below the "OS" of postage there is what appears a blue dot? I can't tell for sure (I'm 77) is this dot you think a position dot?
It's not important but what do you think.
Yes I believe it is a guide dot. You see on almost all badly offcenter examples. You see it on blocks of offcenter examples on each stamp.
"$1,000,000 going once..."
Thank you!
I assume on your stamp this would be for vert. position.
Have you ever seen or do you know if Horz. position dots were also used?
I don't want to waste your time!
Just for you, we'll give you the CAD discount!

No I have never seen any on this stamp. The vertical guide dot should be on every C.3 stamp -- see the green arrow on my example:
The really off center example is not my stamp (way too expensive for my collection), it is from a Siegel auction in 2023 details on right:
All position dots were supposed to be earsed before the finished plate was harden, but of course this did not happen in all cases.
My first post on Stamporama,
Very nice looking stamp, third issued!
This first airmail stamp is one of my most favoriate stamps! Even with the fault.
