I don't think we know yet. The 2025 U.S. Specialized was to have been released last October and there was very little explanation of why that didn't happen. We were told that it would ship in January. I haven't heard of anyone receiving one yet, and January is almost over. The Classic Specialized was supposed to be released in November, and that didn't happen, either.
Lots of rumors floating around.
The 2025 US Specialized was still listed as on back order when I checked yesterday. The only word from Amos was issues with printer and that the issue has been resolved but timetable not fully stated.
Thank you both for the information.
Larry
Today's Scott Stamp Monthly e-mail shows an advertisement for the 2026 Scott catalogs. Hopefully the backlog of 2025 catalogs will be out soon.
Good news for sure!
I'm reminded of the old Seinfeld car-rental bit:
Jerry: I don't understand. Do you have my reservation?
Rental Car Agent: We have your reservation, we just ran out of cars.
Jerry: But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservation.
Rental Car Agent: I think I know why we have reservations.
Jerry: I don't think you do. You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.
Advertising 2026 is easy. Giving us the promised 2025s seems to be a bridge too far.
I haven't heard anything yet. All of the crickets are chirping.
I have asked the same question and the only conclusion that I can come up with is the cost for the catalogs has far outreached the cost of printing them and the demand for them has fallen dramatically too.
Because the volumes are now being split up to reduce the overall weight of each one. Because there has been a plethora of complaints from collectors saying that the volumes are getting too heavy and I can agree with that to some extent. This creates problems for the publisher and the printer alike. So how is the difference split?
The average collector only purchases the volume that suits the individual need. I'm that way. I usually only buy the U.S. Specialized. If I could reduce my expenditure by just purchasing a supplement annually such as the values by grade. I'd certainly do that but in the printed form only. The reality is I like many of you are going to have to concede to one form of the catalogs or another. My reality will likely end up being the digital form and printing out the pages as I see fit to do so.
You can't please everybody.
Jeremy
I think Amos Media is still having problems. In the latest Scott Stamps Monthly, the New Issue Update only has a few pages. Some countries haven't appeared for a year or more. They will certainly be New Issues anymore. Other catalogs have issue numbers about as soon as they are released. Guess I will have to change catalogs.
The proliferation of new issues does not help as it adds content either. Many are the pop culture issues in no way related to issuing country or just as excesssive.
Scott has refused to issue regional catalogs except in digital format since I believe they want the revenue from the not consumer friendly 6 volume set.
I saw this posted elsewhere....I am trying to get the original link.
The issue now is with paper availability. The printer told us they could get us in the January production schedule but had issues getting paper for us. We tried other printers as well – and had the same issue. The printer has promised we will have the Scott U.S. Specialized ready to ship out no later than March 24th. It could be earlier as they are trying to expedite the paper to get here earlier.
On the Facebook "Virtual Stamp Club" group, one "Linns Stamp News" column writer reported that none of the column writers have been paid for some time. This could mean ther financial issues have not been fully resolved.
It sounds more and more like the issue is financial. If their credit rating is very low, they will not get any paper without paying in advance. And then you get into some kind of circle it is hard to get out of: no money to pay for the paper because there is no paper to create the books that are needed to provide the money to pay for the paper.
Wow. What happens if the people that maintain the Scott Catalogs go bust? No Scott Catalog has GOT to mean the near demise of the stamp hobby. The Scott catalog with its reference numbers and pricing seems to be the lynchpin that holds the hobby together.
One could argue that specialist groups could (should?) do it since now a for profit company defines how many in the US collect and organize stamps since Scott also designs album pages. But then I would not want Deegam to be the standard for organzing Machins so no panacea.
Scott's listing standard is different for classical compared to modern. A few plate scratches sometimes needeing a specialist on a WF stamps are major catalog numbers where it would not be the ame for modern. At best, it would get a minor number.
My 2025 U.S. Specialized just arrived. There are a lot of changes since 2019 when I bought my last catalog especially with the classics.
Jeremy
Some contributors still have not been paid and Lloyd de Vries reported that the latest Linn's did not have an article by John Hotchner for the first time in many many years. (No idea if coincidence). They still are not providing print copies of the Scott Stamp Monthly.
Michael at Fox River Stamps is a big seller of Scott, and he believes he is getting the Classic Specialized around the third week of April. He said that he was also told that 2026 will proceed as usual.
We'll see. I'll buy a 2025 if it shows up.
Given Amos Media's lack of transparency on their situation, it does not help.
There are countries that have not appeared in the Scott's Stamp Monthly in over a year. This hardly makes them "New Issues" any longer.
CJD,
Thank you for sharing the information about Fox River Stamps. I have been looking for some supplies that he offers for some time and will be placing some orders with him soon.

I was thinking is was time to upgrade my old 'paper' edition of Scott Catalogues to the 2026 editions. Does anyone know if they will be printed this year? Have the gone 100% digital?
