re: china 834a

My Scott says there is a secret mark "C" below the left foliante ornament - could you show a bigger scan of what that is?

Thanks

re: china 834a

Sorry, no lottery win today.

The difference between #834 and #834A is the printing of the underlying stamp. (All Scott numbers referenced).

834 is surcharged on the Central Trust Printing - underlying stamp #500

834A is surcharged on the Pacheng Printing - underlying stamp #551. The Pacheng printings added a "secret mark" as mentioned by dell4c.

I could not find an image of the $1 with the secret mark of the Pacheng printing, but here it is on $5. The marks for the $1 and $5 are the same (although some other values of the Pacheng Printing have different marks)

and here is your stamp enlarged:

No secret mark, so it is on the Central Trust Printing, thus #834, not 834A
