Wow! I see she is selling more gems like this one. It sort of makes you wonder, do these sellers only accept cash payments?
I seem to recall something about what happens to fools with money.
there are an amazing number of these rare stamps (that sort of argues against the adjective, methinks), including an almost reasonably priced for $25: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/166357235827?_tr ...
They are ALL identically named, but that maybe only because a seller saw the first posting at killer prices and wanted in.
I might dust of my thousand or so TJ sheet stamps and offer them at bargain basement prices; wait until I bring out the TJ coils
Surely this Vintage Rare 1932 Violet Thomas Jefferson 3 Cent US Postage Stamp is a good deal. The seller has 100% positive feedback!
@ren437
You can't believe everything you see online.
Hope you did not fall for this one!

Apparently you don't recognize sarcasm.
Seller has 100% feedback as a buyer, 0 as a seller, so it seems someone just enjoys wasting their time waiting for the first sucker to strike. Of course, Feebay is not going to do anything about it, they would be happy to count their take on these rare items.

I don't think this one is money laundering.
The causes are:
+ eBay has free listings. You only pay when you sell.
+ The general public has been conditioned that anything old must be rare and valuable.
If you want to see this in action, take a look at the Facebook groups for stamp collectors! A daily flow of people who found a damaged common stamp who think they struck gold!
@Harvey
So what is the correct ID. for the stamp in your posting?
Did you notify the seller about this?
Did you notify Ebay about this?

I assume it is #807 from 1938 which means he has the year wrong as well. It lists for $0.25!! I have a very nice used copy as well as many precancels.

If you search ebay for "rare vintage stamp" in the stamps category you get a ton of super overpriced common stamps. Please read the description on the above link - looks like someone is at least attempting to fix the problem.

I like the content of what this seller (kgc_movin_earth) is doing, but find it troubling that evidently they have sold 36 of these stamps, as they admit can be bought in a nickel box at a stamp show, and several available on HipStamp at 5-10c, for $2 plus $1 shipping.
It says 34 sold at $2 each plus $1 shipping! He's doing well while proving his point!
Free local pickup from Fresno, CA!

"NOT Very Rare Vintage collectable !
I am listing these very low value extremely common stamps on eBay to help the under knowledgeable stamp collectors from making a regrettable purchase.
The above dates 1789-1797 has nothing to do with the age of the stamps but rather the years George Washington was president. The actual dates these stamps were in production was 1938-1954.
The stamps were the usps work horse stamps and were printed in the hundreds of millions.
The Scott Catalog numbers for the 1 cent green stamps are 804/804b/839/848. The different catalog
numbers refer to the different type of stamps. Sheet / booklet / horizonal coil / vertical coil stamps.
The corresponding catalog values for mint & never hinged = .25 / .25 / .30 / .85
The corresponding catalog values for used = .25 / .25 / .25 / .25
And the .25 SCV is the minimum price they put on a stamp.
I'm listing these stamps mainly for informational purposes. The cost & time of listing such low value stamps prohibits me from selling them for the .25 Scott Catalog Value. At stamp shows they can be found on the kid's table for nickel a piece.
These are all stock pictures, as it is not worth the time to scan these very low value stamps each time someone happens to purchase them. They may be hinged or MNH (mint not hinged)
