One good way to tell if this stamp is right and proper greyish blue paper is to put it on orange colored paper with other same design stamp 331 or 332 etc. and etc. A real greyish blue paper will stand out, you will not have any problem.
Of course you have to have the stamp in question in front of you.

I've probably returned half a dozen "wins" on Ebay in the last year or so. Returned a lot of 5 Canada from the Jubilee
Issue. Described as mint hinged. They all turned out to be no gum. It happens, but never has the seller not offered a refund.
OTOH...while looking through my listings on Hipstamp today, I spotted a Canada Admiral that I misidentified as a more valuable version. And it was obviously wrong....must have had a bad day. No wonder no one even viewed it.
Harvey, it's not a problem. You are asking for help on a particular auction, and knowing the company helps others provide you with information.
From my experience and knowledge, many dealers who hold auctions don't post the auction lots. They could use other family members or hire a high school or college student to do it for nominal pay. Of course alot of them don't know much about stamps, and mistakes do creep in, or even flood in.
John, why not post a link to your HipStamp store so we can check it out?
It seems to me the Joseph Luft name has been a well respected name in philately for about 50 years. I think he is an APS member, winning awards and even writing articles over the years.
I aam sure one of our APS members can check for you.

I don't usually have success trying to post links.
Google Hipstamp...my store is Troutbumstamps.
John, bock and copy your HipStamp store link. You get it on HipStamp. Then go to your profile here, and paste it in the YOUR WEBSITE URL field in your profile. That field is located right above your picture towards the bottom of your profile page. When you do it, it will appear just as mine does at the bottom of this and all my messages.
On the subject of Hipstamp, is anyone else experiencing functionality issues with the site? It's not loading correctly, the search isn't working and images don't zoom.
Dave....when did this start? I can try to notify them. They are usually pretty responsive.
Michael....can you get to my store with what I added?
"Dave....when did this start?"
Regarding HipStamp - I was having problems yesterday getting the members area to come up. I just logged off several times and gave up getting in. When I did get it - sometimes I could not get into my store to do things I needed to do. This morning it seems to be back to normal. I tried to look in that awful DISCORD they are using now to see if anyone else was having issues but I could not find anything in there. Once they took down their own forums - seems like there is little discussion anymore there... Steve

YES your link works.

I am going to wonder out loud.
If some of these members have all these stamps on Hipstamp and other places.
Why do they not list a few here on Stamporama?

I was looking through my E-mail this morning and there was a notice for a Joseph Lufts stamp auction. I don't see any major problem with mentioning the name but if it's a no-no let me know and I'll delete the name. I was looking through their stuff and saw a classic US stamp at a reasonable price and was about to put in a bid and decided to look at a few more items first. I saw a few things that were definitely not right. I can't remember one of them but the other was a coil that was perforated in the wrong direction from what it was supposed to be. And these two items were on the same page so there might have been several more mistakes. I'm just wondering, and not just with this company, but with others as well, how many things are wrongly advertised. I know with SOR if something like this happened I would be able to return the item. I've never had to though! How many of you have bought items from one of these online auction companies and ended up with stuff that was not right? Just curious, but it sure put me off bidding for other items!!
EDIT: Actually both mistakes were in the perforation direction. Of course they might have just shown the wrong picture. The one I was thinking about bidding on was supposed to be a greyish blue paper. It didn't look right to me but they could have shown the colour better by showing the back of the stamp! I guess sometimes it really does help!
