As I have shared previously, the onset of the pandemic marked a turning point for me with respect to the hobby. After more than five decades collecting on a global level, decided to focus on a handful of countries as well as cinderellas and revenues. By downsizing, my goal has been to learn more about philatelic varieties (e.g., perforations, watermarks, paper types, printing) as well as material not featured in "general audience" catalogues. While I continue to be an active buyer, the majority of the hobby budget has been allocated to resources such as specialty catalogues, limited-issue philatelic monographs, etc.

Once of my focus counties is Argentina, which has provided a treasure trove of discovery specific to watermarks, paper types, plate varieties, etc. One need only look as far as the "Patriots and Resources" series of 1935 - 51 to conclude not all 5-cent, yellow-brown "Mariano Moreno" stamps (Scott 427/SG 649) are identical.

Specific to Argentina, several catalogues and other philatelic resources have proven particularly helpful. As I've learned from the writings of noted Argentina researcher Antonio Rubiera, each catalogue (or resource) offers a different (and often complementary) facet to the philatelic puzzle. Presented below is a list of recently reviewed and/or acquired items. By sharing these I hope to 1) encourage consideration of Argentina as a collecting focus and 2) encourage additions and/or refinements to the list.

Dario Antonio Bardi. Proceres y Requezas I. 2009, 80 pages, full color. (Argentina's 1935 - 51 "Patriots and Resources" definitive series.)

Dario Antonio Bardi. Proceres y Requezas II. CEFINI. Includes detailed analysis of papers. (A continuation of the first entry.)

Casiellas, Lencina, Miri. Catalogo Especializado de Perforados Republica Argentina. 2015 (first edition), 342 pages. Spanish. Full color.

Ediphila. Catalogo Estampillas Argentina. Sept 1978, softcover.

Samuel Klass, Catalogo de Sellos Postales de la Argentina. 1970, hardcover (green cover).

Victor Kneitschel. Catalogo Kneitschel de Sellos Argentinos. Multiple editions. 1952 (original edition?, hardcover, red cover), 1958 (sixth edition, 907 pages, hardcover, two volumes). (Seminal work. Long-time Buenos Aires philatelic dealer.)

Daniel Hugo Mello-Teggia. Argentina Catalogue 1856 – 2019. Various editions: 1998 (first edition), 2000 (supplement), 2009 (535 pages, full color). (Direct descendant of Kneitschel. Includes ex Petrovich numbering system.).

Guillermo A. Pettigiani. Manual Para El Coleccionista de la Series Proceres y Requezas. (176 pages, hardcover, full color, Spanish).

Vladimir Petrovich. 1961/62 Catalogo Sellos Postales de la Republica Argentina. (1962, 89 pages, card cover).

Antonio Rubiera. Argentina: 1935 -1951 definitive series. Blog: arg3551.blogspot.com (Multiple self-published research volumes.)

I've ordered a GJ Catalogo Especializado de Sellos de la República from Jalil (expensive). It's supposed to be a great resource.

"'That's just it,' said the Hemulen in despair. 'It's finished. There isn't a stamp, or an error that I haven't collected. Not one. What shall I do now? ''Nature study!' declares the Hemulen. 'I shall botanize'. "
