The last stamp was issued in 2015 (Yvert-Tellier 4975) and has "20g" written in the lower left.
Thank you! That was a detail I overlooked.
Jan-simon, when you say examined them closely, did you scan the barcodes and if so what coding did you get. Could you post it here?
Always possible that one or other is a forgery.
I did, and all three gave a result. First two exactly the same. I am not at home right now but will copy the codes when I get back.
OK according to an online reader they come out as follows, in 1,2,3 order.
FRAE11IPP0000011000000
FRAE11IPP0000011000000
FRAE11IPP000K011000000
As you say the first two are the same.
With the UK stamps there is a unique identifier after the first part of the code which does not seem to be the case with the French ones, unless the online tool is not recognising same.
Perhaps if anyone else has the same stamps could they scan and post the codes if different.
Vic, you were faster. I used a QR code scanner on my mobile phone with the same codes as result.
Following your suggestion I tried to find the same stamp on the internet and the one shown on Colnect has the same code: FRAE11IPP0000011000000.
Could not find any explanation of the code (yet).

The pattern may be the same on French stamps but in German stamps it is completely different, also I notice that the top row as well as the 1st column on the left are also solid.
I just found a different stamp (self adhesive coil) and it appears to have the same code.
Wikipedia tells me that the solid L shape is intended to determine the reading direction and the opposing border pattern with alternating black and white cells gives information about the number of cells in the datamatrix.
These are stamps with permanent validity
For the 2015 stamp (with 20g) - Face value on the date of issue €0.95
For the 2016 stamps (without 20g) - Face value on the date of issue €1.00
Since the postal rates were increased in 2016, I think the 2D Datamatrix codes have changed.
I translated from a French website the explanation for this code:
“The two Marianne export stamps, Europe and World 20 g have been equipped with a 2D Datamatrix bar code, since September 2015.
This Datamatrix code will enable the computer system of the sorting machines to improve the Quality of Service for export mail”.
I have three 2016 Marianne stamps with a datamatrix.
When you examine them closely, it turns out that stamps 1 and 2 are identical, but the third one has a different code. That means that the stamps are not unique, but what is the datamatrix used for if it is not to identify the use of a single stamp. And question 2: why different codes, does that signify different print runs?
