Hi Josh,
When you mark an invoice as "Shipped" a notification email is sent to the buyer. I get them all the time. The system does not at the moment allow for the seller to add an extra note to the email shipped. Let's assume that we add that to the process. As the seller, where would you then want to be able to see the note that you added on shipping?
Regards ... Tim.
Hi Tim,
Thanks! Right on the invoice list under or after shipped, could be on both buyer or seller list. My main use case is keeping track of tracking numbers.
Josh
I'm just going to add something to this. There are a couple sellers who don't mark the invoices as shipped. If you want us to mark the item as received maybe all sellers should mark the orders as shipped when they are. I'll probably get jumped on for this but I think it's something that every seller should do. Almost all do anyway and forgetting is probably easy as well!
" forgetting is probably easy as well!"
It's not super important for the status to be posted, but as a buyer it's fun to watch the progress through the postal system. I received a lot yesterday from a seller in Canada that was in transit about 2 1/2 weeks. That's the way that it is now for U.S to Canada and back. The total turnaround time was 2 days short of a month. However, last month, I received a lot from a seller here in Florida that arrived in my mailbox in well less than 48 hours! That has to be some kind of record. Total turnaround on that one was just a few days. It wouldn't concern me if the information wasn't available, but it's a nice feature.
Not to add to the load for Tim...
But being able to add a note to any "open" invoices would also be fantastic.
Some times I have folks I've offered to "hold it until next time" followed many months later with no purchases - or a few (one particularly egregious buyer) who I allow to roll over, then ask to pay after 9+ months with no reply, followed by an immediate single 5c purchase). Or for a buyer where I've lost a purchased stamp and offer to make it up next time.
Keeping track of these "off book" and trying not to forget them is onerous.
Any help here would be really appreciated!
Dave.
Aahh! Weell!
You see me being an old dinosaur. I print off every invoice, stick it in a poly sheet then stick it in a folder and put their purchases within. When someone pays it is removed from the folder, the stamps dispatched, the date posted and then put in another folder.
That way I can see who has paid who has still to pay and what stamps are in their poly sheet.
Simples!!
And now if we can get buyers to mark shipments as received, I would not be left wondering.
And the next thing after that is getting buyers to mark as paid so they don't pay us TWICE!!
I do not understand why the buyer marks an invoice paid. I would think that should be the seller that marks invoices paid.
The buyer marks the invoice paid so that the seller can check payment and release the items purchased. The seller gets an email when the payment is made advising how such was done, ie PayPal, cash, cheque etc.
It takes about 30 seconds to mark a shipment as received, a little bit more if a message is left. Marking a shipment as sent or paid would be no more difficult! What's the big deal or are some of you either too busy or too lazy. It's OK to forget occasionally but we should at least make an effort!!
I assume that when I mark an order as received the seller reads any message I send with/on the notification. Two of the last four orders I have acknowledged as received have included a message saying part of the order is missing. Should I also send a separate message? I assume that all messages are read by the sellers no matter where they are. I'm not upset by the missing items, anyone can make a mistake. I just asked the seller to include them the next time they send an order.
In my opinion these messages that come via email and they are form letters. They are automated and it could be easy to miss any other message that was included with them - when you get them on a regular basis. I would think anything important like missing sending some items should be sent as a message here thru the message system. Did I miss anything I was suppose to send you ???
No Steve, you did not. I'll send separate messages to the two sellers. It is very easy when filling a fairly large order to forget an item. It really is not a big deal, but I will send out messages to let them know! Thanks!!
"I have acknowledged as received have included a message saying part of the order is missing. Should I also send a separate message? "
I heard back from both sellers - great service here and things are fine!!!
For sellers that use Paypal, I assume they are getting notifications of payment from quite a few buyers and would alert them that something has been paid. I suspect some buyers are very quick to pay and some not so quick so it may help their time management.
"would alert them that something has been paid."
Its been awhile since I have sold anything. Does marking an invoice shipped send a email to the buyers so they are notified? Is there a way, when you mark as shipped, to add a note or a tracking number? I just used to SOR Messaging system to send USPS tracking numbers to my buyers - it would be nice if I could tie to the invoices to keep track of.
Thanks,
Josh
