Or these?
From what I've seen so far, you have some interesting stamps here. The next decision might be, do I establish an asking price and sell the Lot, or do I break it down into smaller pieces and sell those. Keep in mind, the total Lot might have a value of $1K and if you sell it for $400. you still have $400. that you would not have otherwise.
yes, early Germany.
I didn't see any huge values in there. And I think Bob was quoting $1,000 for illustrative purposes only.
I am 99.9% certain he was.
The main problem with this sort of material is that it is relatively common. If I was a beginner collector of Germany I might be willing to pay about $150ish for what's there. An established collector of German stamps would have all of this material. A dealer would probably not even want this kind of collection. I don't actually collect Germany but I have at least 99% of what's there by just picking it up over the years with other lots. It's very difficult to find buyers for material like this. If it were me I'd probably donate it to a local stamp club, but I'm sure you could get something for it. Just don't be too optimistic!! If what you have is a basic, non-specialized, World collection getting much for it will be difficult. This is only my personal opinion based on about 50 years of collecting. I don't know what else you have but, you never know, there might be some real treasures in there. The best of luck to you, why not start collecting yourself and use this as your starting point?
I totally understand what your saying regarding them being common. I live in california and i have joined or attempted to join various stamp clubs near me but to no avail. As i had figured id probably just donate them to someone that might appreciate them more than i. I figured some are old, i dont want them to just end up in trash like my wife would like to do. I joined this group in an attempt to befriend someone that might know what ive got or would know how i could get them to someone that collects the stamps from all the various countries i got. And hopefully, they'd be honest, if there happened to be a treasure amongst the lot, that they wouldnt be dishonest about it. Id rather ask half and it go to someone that would appreciate it. Anyways, enough rambling. Thank you for your time.

How so ?
Are there none such in your area ?
or,
Perhaps the members were less than
warmhearted ?
I've seen the latter when club members
have a tight knit clique of over
specialized areas of interest and are
impatient with newbies almost to the
point of rudeness, completely forgetting
that we all started stamping somewhere
in, more or less, comparative ignorance.
good question, Charlie. I'd be interested in knowing that, too, since Sam brought it up.
Well honestly, ive looked for stamp clubs in my area through internet but im not really sure who or what im looking for. In my town i dont believe one exists. And nearest city, sacramento, i found one and a shop which ive emailed and called with no response to either. The only response i did have was a shop quite a bit away and they were pretty short and seemingly rude with their response or perhaps it was just what i didnt want to hear. Either way, thats the extent. As i have a busy family and i dont believe the collection i have isnt that valuable, i havent really felt missing daughters many volleyball tournaments to go to stamp shops would go over well with the wife so havent gone all out. So, thats my dilemna. Want with no time fulfill. Anyways, thanks for trying to help me figure this out, youve been very kind and patient. I appreciate it.

Yeah thats the one that never responded. I emailed multiple times.
Maybe you should just show up at the next meeting on Wed. the 2nd of March......at around 6:30PM.
I had tried contacting a local club without success so contacted APS and got the APS contact for the club. I finally got in contact. This may work if the club is an APS affiliate.
Thank you. Ill try that.
Just wondering if these are german and if they might have any value to anybody? I think most are german.
