Jan,
chemical warfare is in order, have ruined several already by trying the old method.
That is right. Newer Denmark and Sweden can not be soaked. I have ruined quite a few trying.
Denmark and Sweden come from the same company nowadays. I had poor results trying to soak stamps from both countries but until now I assumed that these were incidents. Now I know it is the new standard....
....and the reason why so many collectors despise self-stick stamps.
It very much depends on the printer and the requirements given by the postal service. Some countries have self-adhesives that soak very well because they have an extra water-soluble layer. If price is important, they often leave out that layer and we have a problem.
Today I received some very recent stamps from Denmark in a trade. Stamps from 2018 to 2020. They are all still on paper and I remember that I have had some difficulties in the past soaking recent Denmark. Does this mean modern Denmark can be added to the list of the unsoakables? Or can they only be removed from paper by means of chemical warfare?
