It looks like Herna, so is probably Hernals, in the district of Vienna.
Just wondering: what made you think that this Hong Kong stamp carried an Austrohungarian cancel? Now with the complete example to compare it with it seems obvious, but I hadn't come up, with that idea just from looking at this QV stamp...
Thanks Dave - looks a decent match -
Jansimon - looked at various European ebay pages ( amazing it seems few offer options to search by years ) and a few AustroHungarian postmarks looked in the same sort of style font and layout
Typing Herna into Google got me an area in the now Czech Republic so Austro-Hungary which was a large area back in the day covers many options - my other option was maybe South America.
I also have this one also from the Austro-Hungary area
Yes, once again from the Austro-Hungarian Empire!
This one is from Znojmo (German: Znaim), a large town in the Czech Republic close to the Austrian border.
It's interesting to see another inland arrival marking like this.
The only Czech postmark identified in my old Hong Kong Arrival Markings is Prague.
I wonder if they are the result of mail being posted on board a train in transit from Brindisi?
Might read HERNA? would be grateful for the postmark location on this Queen Victoria HK 2 cent brown
is the year date 71?
thanks
