I also collect the revolutionary period of Indonesia,In fact I have just purchased an album of that period including several of the souvenir sheets.
On a recent visit to Bali I was fortunate enough to visit the Monument to Independence in Denpasar in side on the second floor they have numerous dioramas of the struggle for independence.Just a couple of the models on display.
according to what I have been reading the Dutch committed some very bad acts ,some of which I understand are still before the courts.

decolonization is always painful. The first picture does not look like it shows the independence period. I would guess it is 19th century instead, based on the uniforms.
During world war 2 the Japenese of course were at war with the colonial powers..but the Indonesian people were not treated badly and were encouraged by the Japenese to become independant after the war. These stamps of 1945-49 were used prior to the Dutch leaving in 1949.
