I think it means obsolete or no longer valid.
Or withdrawn from circulation. These stamps from 1862/3 were valid until 30 Sep 1883.
I think that is a more accurate translation.
Found a note in my Michel Central Europe.
"with the October 01.1883 all values of the edition "Seated Helvetia" became invalid. The remaining stocks were handed over partly with diagonal overprint AUSSER KURS to collectors."
This page came from a mixed box.
Can someone tell me the significance of the overprint "AUSSER KURS". I believe the rough translation and context is "money". Were these stamps used for payment of some description?
