Clothing and shoes out of asbestos? That is fashionable in the States?
Such items are used in fire fighting.
do they still use asbestos in that? I thought asbestos was/is a major health risk.
asbestos IS a health risk in fibrous form (but so is any similar material, icluding fiberglass). If it's somehow contained in a solid element (say rubber), it's of no concern
Strange days indeed Mama !
Will vendors on Ebay in China have to tack this on?
The thing the press doesn't show you is the tariffs on US goods going into China. It's been a one way street for a long time. If we have a bit of discomfort as our president works to level out the playing field, so be it!
I am not going to reply to this discomfort thing but I would like to register my distaste for this kind of commentary.

What I find interesting, but probably not important, is that on Jul. 12th I read the list of China tariff items. On Jul. 13th I received a nice Ebay Order from the PRC. Immediate Payment, and absolutely no problem(s). On Jul. 14th I received a nice Ebay Order from Japan. Immediate Payment, and transaction delayed 72 hrs. for "evaluation". Huh?
I actually ordered some Lighthouse Vario binders (made in China) as protection against a price hike. I should have bought even more on prime day. I did not think I could use 10 more binders but seems I have underestimated my capability to buy stamps and print pages.
Postage stamps seem like a really odd thing to slap tariffs on. Are there really large numbers of people importing stamps from China?
Odd list, but there it is (partial list):
3rd from the top here
Original sculptures
Collections of zoological, botanical, archaeological interest
Postage stamps
Baseball gloves
Bicycle speedometers
Stroboscopes
Sterling silver tableware
Clothing and shoes made of asbestos
Conveyor belts
Crowbars
Anvils and portable forges
Magnifying glasses
Rrr...
