Sounds like a good idea, Johnny! I tried to check out stamps by English county - mine was Dorset.
There was 1.
Hope you have better luck.
Hi Bob,
I'm a member of the ATA.
If you go here, you can see some of the "lists" that they offer for a very inexpensive amount.
Not sure if you can go here? http://americantopicalassn.org/pdf/checklists/alphabetical20180508.pdf

The APS has a free set of Michigan album pages available on their web site.
Good point, David!
Here's the link;
https://stamps.org/userfiles/file/albums/Michigan.pdf
And here is the supplement to it;

Free to download and print!
Hi all,
I was also going to post a link to those pages as well on Stamps.org!
I am using that Michigan album (on Stamps.org) as a "springboard" for my Michigan collecting.
The thing I am finding about the ATA lists is that they are SUPER comprehensive, to the point of not being fully related to Michigan in my way of thinking (my opinion only).
So I will probably only collect a subset of the ATA number of 217 for Michigan.
Mostly the ones that I would consider "Pure Michigan". That's a Michigan pun.

Hi Johnny. Speaking of state collections!
I live in Pennsylvania but I'm from New Jersey. As a lad I started a collection of New Jersey covers. When I got back to collecting a few years ago, I got back into this boyhood collection.
Once I got going with the two pocket pages, I decided to create a comprehensive album... well I'm up to six albums so far.
The Barnegat Light cover is one of the originals I created as a kid. I started at "A" and was mailing covers to post offices for cancellation.
The Barnegat Park cover is rare, the post office was only open for 10 years about 120 years ago. So I grabbed it for less than $8, even though it's stained and mouse chewed. Never know when or IF I'll see another one. And if I do, I can always replace it!
The list I started in Excel has 2188 entries of post offices, discontinued post offices and name variations. Of those I have 746 or 34% of the total I am striving for.
I had a suspicion Tom would talk about postal history and now I have to chime in as well.
I collect covers from each of Minnesota's post offices, and some other specialties like RFD cancels and National Airmail Week covers.
Here is an entry from my Minnesota collection.
Before you say anything about the page being off kilter or not quite right, this was just a test run as I was planning out how I wanted my album to look.
That's cool Len!
I just started to crank out my pages this past month. I had done the design work a while back but never got to it! The covers were all just sitting in the two pocket pages. Some of the postmarks were faint and took some identifying every time I looked at my albums. With over 750 towns, it was time!
"Anyone collect by State?
I just started collecting all the Michigan stamps.
There are 217.
Just wondered if anyone else did this? It's a cool way to learn about a state or even your own state (if you live in the US).
My next Target will be our Southern neighbor of Ohio, and then Indiana.

If you want Michigan precancels ..just whistle !
Hi Youpiao,
Those are GREAT! Really nice set!
Hi Phil,
Not sure what that means, "precancel"... I'm a novice... So still learning.
Thanks!
JR
Let me copy and paste from wikipedia, just to save time typing out an explanation.
"A precanceled stamp, or precancel for short, is a postage stamp that has been cancelled before being affixed to mail.
Precanceled stamps are typically used by mass mailers, who can save the postal system time and effort by prearranging to use the precancels, and delivering the stamped mail ready for sorting. Precancels were also used on newspaper wrappers in Canada, Austria and Great Britain. The postal administration will typically offer an incentive in the form of a reduced price for precanceled stamps in volume. Precancels cannot normally be purchased by the general public, although they are often seen in one's daily mail."
Most of the time you can identify a precancel by the 2 lines across the face, as shown. There may or may not be a city printed with it.
As mentioned at the end of the wiki, the general public cannot buy these, and because the mail has to be presented in bulk by a commercial mailer, a regular Joe would not be able to reuse a precancel on his own mail.
Thank you for that great explanation!
That really helps!
