Just received today: 2014 Scott Catalogue (6 volumes). Excellent shape for 140.00. Which begs the question -- have values gone up or down the last three year? Overall I mean.
Yes I realize that could qualify as a silly question.

I really doubt if Scott, Stanley Gibbons, Michel publishing and most of all eBay are going to make fuss about pirated outdated catalogs in pdf or jpeg format. I can't believe the amount of time and effort it took someone to do that in the first place. Especially to sell only 40 copies for a gain of $799.60 in US Dollars. Actually its 8% less than that eBay has already taken a listing fee. I don't see the return on the investment.

Do you believe Scott accurately represents the pricing of stamps to warrant so much discussion of price changes each year as a reason to get a new catalog?

I believe if reported to Scott they would contact ebay. They have sent cease and desist letters to multiple web site owners using Scott numbers without their permission.

"A felony charge must involve an infringement of the copyright owner's reproduction or distribution rights. A felony conviction carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000."
This case is clearly an infringement of the copyright owner's reproduction and distribution right
US copyright law clearly states: "Copyrights are valid until 70 years after the creator is deceased."
Outdated catalogs in your opinion, but not in the eyes of the law.

I am not an attorney, but as a business executive I know that what is being offered is illegal. By originally posting notice of this “offer,” I certainly did not want to convey any sort of endorsement. Rather, I see this not only as a legal issue, but as an ethical one. I would hope that most, if not all members of SOR would shy away from this type of offer on moral grounds alone.
