"In caSE A SUGGEST usd 6.= "
South America cover Michel cat. value € 1,000.00
Chicago World Fair cover Michel cat. value € 1,700.00
Berlin stamp cover Michel cat. value € 12,200.00
would be nice to see the back of both Zeppelin covers
Manfred
Probably obvious to others but why did the middle cover go to Akron, OH?
There was a zeppelin airdock operated by Goodyear-Zeppelin in Akron.
Thanks Jansimon
Manfred (Philastore); thanks for your response.
Both zeppelin covers are front side of the covers, they don't have backsides (if you mean the backside of the "covers"). Further; as you know; backside of the stamps are important too; (if you meant that) to determine the ripplings (vertical or horizontal ripplings -listed in Michel specialized catalogue with X and Y codes). And I think some equipments (as Lindner Letterscope) may help to identify the ripplings of the stamps on the covers if they're vertical or horizontal.
Now, I've checked and seen that; "Chicago World Fair" stamps don't have ripplings.
And I think you've calculated the catalogue value for Berlin cover; addition of -cover value of each stamp-. (I couldn't learn how to calculate the catalogue value of multiple stamps on cover according to Michel catalogue printed in German).
Thanks again and have a nice day.
Surrenalist for the value on the Berlin stamps I added vale for every stamp on cover as listet in Michel Special Vol. 2
For the Zeppelin covers I meant the back of the cover, sometimes the have markings or cancellations on the back of the cover. For the value I also considered the value each stamp on cover and used the cheapest variety for value as listed in Michel Special Vol 1
I used this value for cheapest variety because I am not able to see gum rippling if vertical or horizontal
I've checked again and seen that; both were cutted by scissors from the covers (not sure) and don't have cancellations on backsides.
For all; it's not so important value difference between the varieties for these treasure like covers. I hadn't care of these covers so much and worked on them only a few days ago.
I think, I have to learn much about FDC/cover collecting and these covers will be a good surprised start for me. I have hundreds of covers/FDC to work on and hope to have good surprises like this one.
Thanks again.
sorry to say that, but if you don't have the stamp or stamps on a complete cover (envelope) those stamps have only a value of used stamp on fragment and not on cover.
Mainly I collect stamps of Whole Germany (and areas). I found these 3 covers in some albums and I can't remember when I bought them.
First one is 1930 Sudamerika Fahrt. (Michel : 438 - 439)
Second one is 1933 Chicagofahrt. (Michel : 496 - 498)
Third one is 1948 Berlin. (Michel : 17,19,20).
As I said before I only collect "stamps" and don't know about covers. I'm not sure if all of these are genuine or not. And I don't know how to calculate of the catalogue values.
(I think; Michel catalogue says; "Cover/FDC value of most expensive stamp + value of used stamps) Right?
I hope the values have more zeros after a positive number .
For the second cover; I have more stamps with this cancellation (Friedrichshafen). And it makes me irritated if this cancel is not genuine.
Thanks for your interest and sorry for my awful english.
