I had a postcard I sold on eBay and it was nowhere to be found. Usually I can just go to the spot where it should be, pluck it out and ship it in minutes.
Next step is to look in the very same places the next day with fresh eyes.. and I often find it! But this one? Nope!
Next step is to search the entire box in case it hopped over a category marker. Nope! So I just stop looking.
Then today I moved something on the desk and there it was! Finally went out in the mail today.

About five years ago I started an index of my covers after writing them up and putting them in the appropriate album. Not foolproof, but it helps to find specific items. The shoebox collections, however, remain unindexed and contain many long forgotten covers.

I usually find missing items over time...but one item escapes me...a few years ago a club member brought in a couple of homemade pages with stamps and covers from Katanga that a missionary had put together. I thought it was something different and only paid 2 or 3 dollars for them. I don't have a clue where they are...they were on pages so you would think i put them in a binder. Its not the value..its the where ?
