You never know what you'll find! While sorting out the big box of postal cards I've been selling on eBay,
I came across what I first thought was just a stained cover. That was until I read the stamping!
"Received in bad condition from Pneumatic tube
NYPO... (hard to read and figure out acronyms)
This card is from 1914, but the system was in use from 1897 to 1954.
I knew the system was in use during the reign of my Ben Franklins,
but unlike some European systems that marked each piece of mail,
I learned that NY mail wasn't marked, so we'd never know! Until this week!
Figure that enough mail got damaged that they had a rubber stamp, so now that I know it exists,
I have to keep an eye out for this stamper on a cover or card between 1903-09 with my Ben Franklin on it!
