Poland #322 (Fawn) and #339 (brown) - according to my Minkus album: I assume brown is significantly darker than fawn. I have a couple copies which appear to be a light brown which I assume to be fawn. I have two good colour guides and neither show fawn. Is there a Poland collector out there who will show me side by side copies of these two stamps so I can see if my assumption is correct. To muddy the waters a bit Scott's calls the colours of the two stamps fawn and reddish brown.
Edit: I Googled stamp 322 and found the same stamp in many different shades, some much darker or lighter than others. I'm mainly curious what a Poland collector might determine these two stamps might look like. With a bit more research I found there is supposedly a difference between the two stamps. At the lower left in the original there are crossed swords and a helmet, in the second one it has been removed. I seem to have two copies of the second one but it's hard to tell because of a post mark in a very awkward place. Can anyone who has both stamps tell me what the difference looks like?
Edit#2 I could delete this if I wanted, since I solved my own problem!! With a bit more searching I found pictures of both and the first one has crossed swords and a helmet and the second one has them replaced with a decorated grill. Both of mine have the grill and are sort of "brown", so mystery solved! The joys of research - I now can correct my want list since I need the fawn version!
