Europe/Great Britain : QEII Coronation Album... surprise!

I picked up what was advertised as a MLH complete 1953 coronation set on eBay. It was pictured as individual stamps on black stock pages, but what I received today was the complete coronation set neatly hinged in a small blue Stanley Gibbons album specifically designed for these stamps. It is the same album as the one pictured here:
https://www.catawiki.com/l/33105365-great-britain-england-stanley-gibbons-album-coronation-stamps-1953

For my original intention, the album is useless to me, but it really is an attractive package, and I am now questioning whether or not I should break it up and disperse the individual stamps into my albums. I see that there were blue and red versions of this album, is one particularly more or less common, and do they have any exceptional value compared to the stamps alone? Is the album relatively worthless if empty?

I'd hate to strip the album and find out later that it was a bone-headed rookie move..... any opinions out there?

I haver this blue album. By and large, the individual stamps aren't of much value, and in my opinion would be better left in the album.

I just have to ask what may be obvious to everyone else, but what was the original intention that can't be filled by theses stamps.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that.... I expected to receive a group of loose stamps, which would be split up and placed into albums by country. It sort of seems a shame to strip the book to fill holes in other albums.

re: QEII Coronation Album... surprise!

I have both the Jubilee set and the Coronation set complete in the UK album and as they have popped up the individuals, usually used, in the appropriate country location.
I am sure I am still missing some of the individuals somewhere, but I don't let it bother me. That is the way I solved the dilemma..

re: QEII Coronation Album... surprise!

Keep them together!

The cool thing is that you see the full scope of the Empire at that time - and countries now with different names post-independence. It is the grouping that makes the Stamps have more significant historical value over and above their CV.

I do the same with my Europa stamps as it shows the evolution of this organization over time.

In both cases it turns sometimes “boring” pages of stamps into “interesting” stories of history for my non-collecting friends.

Great deal! Now you can sell your duplicates on SOR!

Dave.

re: QEII Coronation Album... surprise!

I am hoping to find a list of the 1952 Queen Coronation stamps.
I have a bit of a collection and wish to complete it this winter. Every website I see lists a different number of stamps.
How many countries actually printed coronation stamps and how many colonies etc released omnibus series?
Any information would be appreciated .
Thanks Cheryl

re: QEII Coronation Album... surprise!

Some years ago I purchased a White Ace Historical Album, issued by The Washington Press. It contains the set of stamps, mint in clear mounts.
I have replaced the mounts with Black ones but the old mounts left a residue on the pages.
Follows are scans of the pages.

In case anyone notices the country name Singapore is incorrect on the page, being shown as Sinapore.
Possibly the blank pages are available somewhere.
