Thank you for showing these varieties! I flyspeck Ireland and reading about similar material for other areas helps train the old brain to recognize double transfers and other such goodies. Nice clear pics, too!
Hi Everyone;
@ David;
I was just going to ask, as I'm sure others are also wondering the same thing and are too shy to look as ignorant as I do. Just what exactly is a Foreign Design Transfer? I know what a plate error is, like for example the "broken hat" variety of the 2¢ Columbian Exposition.
From looking at your images, it appears to me that there is an impression that is from a completely different stamp design. Am I wrong or what?? If it is how did it get where it is?? Just wondering.

Thanks for the photos and explanations. Now I'll have to look at my R-series to see if they match these Foreign designs!
On this thread did you mean to say R120 instead of R150? The R150 is the $20 orange.
FYI, the technical term for this is "foreign entry" not "foreign design transfer".
Very pricey at $450 in Scott, so you did VERY well for a buck. Very collectible.
The centering on your example is typical for these. Most are horribly shifted to the left or right. Finding one that is well centered is a challenge.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting the photos and explanations.
