I don't know, but have you ever checked the stamp smarter site? It does list reviews of some ebay sellers, and I have found it useful.

Theron ... very interesting site ... particularly the seller reviews. Checked for the #463 seller, but he was not listed.
But we do know that any six stamp plate block will not contain an error. I assume that that particular plate number is the one for the sheet with the error or am I wrong? So, I guess I can't see the problem. Anyone ready to buy a #467 would know or should know what they are buying.
Am I missing something?

Carl, Is this the auction you are looking at?
PLATE# BLOCK OF 6 #463 STAMPS-PLATE#7942 FROM THE #467 ERROR SHEET MINT-OG/NH
If so, I do not see the problem as the seller makes no inference or representation that the block contains a 5c error stamp (#463) only that it is...
"A MINT BOTTOM PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF 6 (#463)STAMPS WITH PLATE #7942,THE ONLY PRINTING PLATE USED FOR THE #467 ERROR SHEET.SEE #467 IN THE CURRENT SCOTT CATALOG.THE PLATE BLOCK IS MINT OG/NEVER HINGED.SCOTT CATALOG VALUE IS $250.00.A GORGEOUS BLOCK THAT WOULD BE A NICE ADDITION TO EVERY COLLECTION."
Bobby ... Yes, that's the auction I'm talking about.
I guess my issue with it is that by tying it to the #467 error sheet, they are asking for $175, when it is available for around $20 as a normal #463.
That block of 4 is not a plate block - it is a block of 4 with one of the stamps being a plate number single.
A plate block of Scott #463 consists of 6 stamps and the catalog value in my 2010 Specialized is $250 for a NH block.
Plate #7942 is also listed separately under Scott #467 as a Plate Block of 6 at the same $250 figure NH.
There are numerous stamps that are only listed in Scott as plate blocks of 6 (probably hundreds of them, including some modern issues) - I have never known there to be a market for blocks of 4 with the plate number because there is no catalog value for one. There are catalogs out for plate # singles.
Hope that helps
Webpaper ... my question was "Should I continue to be outraged, or is there some justification for the listing?"
You have definitively answered my question and I sincerely thank you.
For months now I've seen several six-stamp Plate blocks of #463 (2 cent) being offered on EBay for $175, based on the premise that that particular serial number sheet contained one or more #467 (5 cent) errors. The listing shows up in both the #463 and #467 searches.
Should I continue to be outraged, or is there some justification for the listing?
re: Is ths a fraud or just buyer beware?
