One reason could be that he is in Canada and doesn't accept PayPal. Therefore, checks could incur bank fees for the currency conversion. Sales greatly increase when one accepts PayPal. Jacques states that he doesn't accept PayPal at the current time, so he might be working on that.
However, I see plenty of sellers all over the pace saying that they won't accept PayPal, because they don't want to pay the fees. They are saving pennies, but losing dollars in sales.
I agree - they are very reasonably priced! I'm tempted to buy the whole book, but my perfin collecting is on hold pending my acquiring some kind of catalog. I know they are out there, but haven't had the chance seek one out yet.
Hi Everyone;
@ GeoStamper;
Try searching for perfin collecting clubs or forums specific to perfins. The largest of those I believe sells their own catalog for a modest price.
Keep on stampin'
TuskenRaider
TuskenRaider, yes I have seen those advertised - some for sale and some free with membership, depending on the club and country of interest. I became fascinated with them back in the 1980's and collected several hundred. I was amazed (almost stunned) to learn recently of just how many perfin types are out there - more than 20,000 for the UK alone as I recall. For those of us just struggling to complete basic country collections, the thought of tens of thousands of additional empty spots to fill is daunting!
So what did I just do? I just picked up a book on Belgian Railway Parcel Post Cancellations. Between cancel types, dates, and station locations, there are probably several thousand more stamps I now need to find... and at the same time!
I believe I took all the railroad perfins...
The perfin club does have lists for individual countries. I bought the list for Ireland and it doubles as an album. I don't use it as such, but it would be handy for those who do. And - it was fairly inexpensive. But, that's just ONE country! A catalog for worldwide perfins would be a different pot of tea completely. I've tried to find an online resource, but no luck so far.
I once had a Swiss stamp with the perfin "Tobler". I had to sell it as every-time I looked at it I went and ate some chocolate. I found myself sneaking peeks at that stamp whenever I got a craving. When I started taking the stamp to work, I knew that it was time to let it go.
Tooo funnneeeeee!!! My sister is a chocaholic. She calls it her "medicine."
I ate a whole bag of M&Ms after I wrote that too! Not as good as Tobler chocolate, though. I think I'm going to go cook supper now. Spaghetti and chocolate sauce!
This is close...........If anyone actually wants to make it, it is a real recipe. Just google Chocolate Pasta.
Chocolate Pasta Ingredients:
1.1½ cups of all purpose flour, plus extra
2.1 tsp salt
3.2 eggs
4.1 cube of bakers chocolate
5.2-3 Tbsp of water
6.½ cup of sugar if you want it sweet. I did not add it
Strawberry Sauce Ingredients:
1.1 lb of fresh strawberries, washed and sliced
2.1 cup of sugar
3.1 cup of white wine
4.2 tbsp of crushed red pepper
5.2 tbsp of butter
There goes another 5 pounds on the waistline. But...
Just don't go licking stamps after eating chocolate!
I saw a perfin book in the approvals, but there was no indication as to which Scott number each perfin was on, just the reverse side view of the perfin. I may be odd man out, but I collect one stamp, and buy all the perfins and precancels I can find of that stamp, especially on cover.
i don't think its odd i collect a lot of areas and topics but i have hundreds of Guatemala scott 118 the orange and blue lake Amatitlan..to me its like a painting !!
I also collect perfins. I have created my own databases for the different countries as well. I arrange everything by alphabet, symbols and numbers, where applicable.

I only just started taking the Perfins out of my ordinary collection and have started setting them aside for their own folder for later.
Most of my Perfins are mostly Denmark ones, with the occasional OS Australia thrown in.. (But I'm still way behind in my gathering and rechecking).

I receive lots of requests for perfins and pre-cancels, so I am stumped as to why no one has cleaned out the approval book Jacques recently listed. They seem very reasonably priced in my humble opinion. If you're a perfin collector, take a look! If the sales are brisk maybe others will list their perfins, too. I'm hoping some of them will be Irish perfins which are the only ones I collect.
