Hello Arno, lately i have taken an slight interest in U.S. precancels on cover. I thought that a precancel from a small town in Indiana might be fairly scarce.

re: Precancel cover from Attica Indiana

Hi Everyone;

I have lots of precancels I would like to list in approvals (approx. 1000-2000), but alas I know nothing about value or scarcity
or much else about them. I only know there are Bureau issues and local precancels. I would like to find collectors that would
enjoy having them in their collections.

Would this stamp be a local? If it is, would that be because typically bureau issues have cleaner looking cancels?

I also have singles of Scott US #1415-1418, that are mint full gum, but canceled with wavy lines, and no town name.
Would they be bureau, or local issues?

It seems logical that issues from small towns would sell for more. Would you agree? Where could you buy a cheap older catalog of
prices they typically sell for? Thank you for sharing your find with the rest of us.

Keep on stampin'

Hi TuskenRaider

If you don't fancy putting them into the approvals how much would you expect to get for them by selling them as a job lot? Or I can give you another option, seeing you have quite a few already why not join the PSSGB, subs are $15 for 3 yrs and monthly newsletter via email there you can learn more about the many different precancels which, don't only come from USA. Also the catalog used is not any general stamp catalog but one specifically only for precancels. If you want further info on PSSGB let me know.
