I've been getting all my philatelic supplies from Brooklyn Gallery of Coins and Stamps. I've never been disappointed, and they have better prices than Subway or Potomac Supplies for anything I've needed.
I was truly disappointed in HL's 1/4 section of philately supplies. I've only been to two of them. The first was over in Ft Myers and then a new one opened in Boca Raton on my side of the state. I did find a nice magnifier loop and the stock pages. Needless to say I bought them. Can't wait for them to email me the coupons so I have a reason to go down there again and scope out the Christmas decorations and get more stuff. I've been thinking new tongs are in my future.
I was able to get a nice magnifier and a Supersafe Stock Book from HL. It was good to know there were a few things I could get there from time to time. BOB

I won't buy from them because of their politics and how they treat their employees. Not meant to open a discussion on the topic, but I won't no matter what the savings are. rrr...
I have not heard ill feelings from their employees. Not that that will stop me from shopping there. I shop at Walmart and their employees are very unhappy. HL is relativity new to Florida maybe that's why I've not heard this news.
Not sure how politics got into this thread. I was under the impression that Hobby Lobby was in the news because of religious convictions. We don't have an outlet here so I can't ask any employee about their happiness. I even checked the internet for reviews by employees and the majority appear to be very happy. So with that info I guess I won't have a problem shopping there.

I bought this SuperSafe 16 page album at my local Hobby Lobby for less than $10 with their 40% off coupon.
Note that the 40% off coupon is on their website, and you don't have to print it. The cashier copies a code off it into the register. Note that the coupon doesn't work on sale or clearance items, even if they'd be cheaper with the coupon.
I go to Hobby Lobby for some of my model building supplies. When there is nothing I need, I buy one of these albums. You can never have too many sorting books.
Hobby Lobby has the same coupons available in the phone book in the "green" pages as well (at least in my area).
The coupon is right on the website.....
Sometimes they change it up..... it's not always the 40%..
You can load the coupon to your phone, no need to carry the paper
I just bought a 16x magnifier from there (made by Whitman) and it does magnify--UPSIDE DOWN! This has happened twice now, so now I'm going to get a refund. UGH!
On the good side, I just found out yesterday a new HL is opening about a couple of miles from my house--oh joy! BOB
Maybe its a left-handed magnifier.
I think that particular magnifier is only for use below the Equator.
"UPSIDE DOWN"
"left-handed magnifier"

Yes, I moved it back and forth. What is interesting it that if you put the magnifier right on top of the stamp, it is right side up. When you lift the magnifier away from the stamp to try and magnify it, it gets blurry, then shows inverted.
I have never seen this before ever with a magnifier. BOB
Convex: curves 'outward'
Concave: curves 'inward'
Plano: dead flat
Is the lens convex-concave? Plano-convex? Or?
Both lenses, when I pulled the first magnifier apart, are CONVEX. Ikey, I tried all combinations, I switched the order of the lenses I turned each upside down, etc.. and I got the same issue every time.

Okay, last question: what happens when you turn the album page upside-down?
Yes, but did you try standing on your head while using the magnifier in all of those positions?
NO, seriously I bought a 30 & 60 power w/light, online for about $3, with free postage, from China of course, but it works wonderfully. Just check out magnifiers on eBay and you'll find it. Buy 3 or more at that price since they make great gifts.

I bought some of the black plastic stock pages from my local HL, and they were the worst I have ever seen. There were imperfections all over them. So much that I tried using one and wound up tossing them. The clear part was actually melted (somehow) to the black portion in places and I had to pry them apart. They were, if I remember right Showgard brand, so I felt safe in buying them. Maybe HL buys seconds, who knows.
"wound up tossing them"
Mostly because when I say "local HL", I mean 60 miles away, so probably $15-20 in gas to return a $5 item? Nahhh, I just toss them. Besides, about the only time I do get to go there is on Sunday.............and they are closed on Sundays.
Hi Everyone;
Thank you Michael for starting this thread. I didn't know that Hobby-Lobby sold stamp supplies. I remember your mention in another thread that SuperSafe hinges were almost as good as Dennison's were.
The nearest store is over one hour drive, so my brother picked me up a package of 1,000 and will bring them over today on his visit.
Just sortin'....

Just an FYI that Hobby Lobby does sell some philatelic items. While their selection is rather slim, they do have plastic stock pages (Safe brand, I think), some Showgard mounts, Supersafe hinges, a few stock books, albums, and a few other assorted items including stamp packets.
If you subscribe to the Hobby Lobby email newsletter, they usually include a 40% off one item coupon. You can print it out, take it to Hobby Lobby and get 40% off the regular price of one item. One coupon per visit per day is the norm. There are three stores a short distance from me. I print out three coupons and visit all three stores. Good savings on a regular basis. Today, for example, I saved about $30 on model railroad-related items. It's definitely worth it.
