I have received several of these cancels and cannot read a single one past the word "Energy". Wish they were clearer.... Sally
Hi Everyone;
But how much better would it look if it were readable, instead of pixelated like a 1970s computer graphic? Ever see a Jenny
bi-plane cancel, with its fine detail and no pixels?
Just like our new digital TVs, the picture is crappier than ever, motor-boating sound, frozen pictures locked up. I've seen
this happen not just with free TV, but with dish in bad weather.
It is not progress when the quality gets so awful, it is regression, so lets go back to vacuum tubes hey!!! At least
then you could see the picture even with a little snow in it. The petroglyphs in caves in Spain and France were easier to
see and they were made by cavemen.
Did you know that audio aficionados prefer vacuum tube amplifiers and FM tuners for their richness and clarity of sound, and
they also find the same for vinyl analog recordings as superior to digital crap on CDs & DVDs.
That is a really cool cancel tho...
Just another rant

Well Well. An envelope from me actually got cancelled. So many of my incoming mail gets either pen cancelled or no cancel at all.
Congratulations, Mike. :-)

Yes! Listen to a real live album from the 60's or 70's (may I suggest Pink Floyd's "Echoes" or even "The End" on the "Apocalypse Now" soundtrack) and then listen to the same on CD. It's scandalous what a CD or MP3 format does to a real song. Don't know how much press it received, but Neil Young is actually developing the "Pono" - a better and truer alternative to this sound distortion that we have grown used to.
Now go from inkjet cancels to the lovely pictoral cancels of yesteryear. The elaborate Swiss cancels of the 70's were what first caught my eye way back when I was a kid. I still have those cancels; and I can read them clear as day.
At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, the old ways are definitely better than the new ways.
ENERGY ACTION MONTH
Thanks for the translation, bobgggg. That was quite a puzzle.

I love vintage illustrated cancels:

Hi Everyone;
@ Andrejs;
Pink Floyd sure brings back the memories for me when I was a student at DeVry in Chicago. We turned on the black
lights, cranked up the volume and passed around the fat boys. We could only afford stems & seeds, but that and
beer got us all wasted, we were crunked!!
The black lights drove my aquarium fish nuts, until we learned to put a few seeds in their water and then
they didn't mind at all. After a bit a swear they were swimming to the music, or maybe I was just stoned.
We used to watch Don Kirshner's rock concert on TV, and then we watched Sven Goulie's "Creature Features"
till we passed out.

I haven't seen one of these in a long time, but was happy to see someone is still applying them. Can't really tell what the writing is, but would assume it's something to do with energy conservation.
I also received a new Batman stamp, but it wasn't even cancelled, but am returning it since the sender is trying to complete a set.
