Back in the 1980s we had a couple in our stamp club..i will call them Stan and Zelda because that were their names. Stan was a dealer..he belonged to the club only to sell stamps, Zelda was a true collector..she was probably more knowledgeable than Stan. When my wife joinned he club Zelda took her under her wing and taught her quite a bit as people did in those days. So the years pass and Stanley passed away..Zelda needed a ride to meetings and back..perhaps 5 miles each way and the wife and i would drive her. She tried taking Stans place selling..but she was too much of a collector so, again as time passes she decided to sell the dealer stock. I had mentioned that i would like a chance at some of the stamps before she sold totally out..she knew i could not buy the "good" stuff but their was a wall of stockbooks colored by area...red for British Commonwealth etc:. She told me i could have any of the books for 50 dollars each..i promptly took 3 of the British area..Hong Kong being by far the best...gee i was jus about giving away the 1941 set to the dollar value mint and used ! I am still picking through those 3 books..first i go through my albums to make sure i am not selling a stamp i need and then i put them up here on the Auction at 30=40 percent of catalog for anyone who can use them !
