I'm working right now on British cancels and postal history. Does anyone know if there is a comprehensive list of postcodes for the UK dating back to the early 1930s? The Museum of London has a list on Wikipedia but I am looking for Ealing which wasn't part of "Greater London" until the 1960s.

Not sure I understand your question here. Based on the postmark, clearly Ealing was part of the W5 postcode in 1945. So, it must have been part of the London suburban district for postal purposes by then. Whether it was administratively a part of Greater London then is immaterial.

The Philatelist, I tracked down maps and lists of London postcodes. Sorry if my question was unclear. I have a small lot of covers addressed to Mr. Robert Hase who apparently worked for the BBC during WW II. Wondering if he was connected to Annamarie Hase, an actress and German refugee, who worked there at the same time. All dead ends, so far.
