Since they were still using postal zones instead of zip codes, has to be pre-1963. At that time they were mostly 2¢ stamps, so I'll hazard a guess of 40¢
sorry Bobby! no Koala bear hugs for you!
Mike
Well, it was likely a minimum bid that was made. Twenty-five cents was the minimum bid for items of catalog $2.50 or higher. I would say around $3.
You guys are tough and I'm glad this wasn't my bid sheet. LOL
OH, by the way, you're all wrong.
Antonio, you're right in discerning that 25¢ is the minimum bid and it was the owner of the sheet that put in that bid.

How close do I have to come?
From the tone of your post, I would assume that the value is way too high.
My best guess is a gazillion dollars.
Ok. How about $15.00?
$1.50 ?

Sorry folks, I have been tied up (and boy was it fun).
James I like you, please check out my lots. Just bid a gazillion dollars on each. LOL
Sorry to say, but you are all wrong.
Michael, the Green thingy is covering up the catalog value of the stamps, correct, but those values are probably 50 or 60 years old, or more. Anyone with a very old catalog could check this lot and get a good idea of what that magic number is.

OK, the bell has rung and the contest is over. Both of these answer are wrong, also.
I said, to myself, if anyone gets within 10¢ of the correct answer, I would award that person the prize, it was close, but again no Koala Bear hugs for anyone. Oh, 10¢ would have been just less than 10%, which in this instance is quite a large margin of error, so no one wins the sheet of stamps. According to my 2009 Scott's, this page is worth around $25.00, in case anyone is interested. Stay tuned, I'm sure there will be another quiz in the near future.
Mike
Michael (mdroth) is quite correct. By your own stated rules, the prize must be awarded to Mike in NC (meostamps) as his guess of $0.95 on 6/23 is within 10 cents of the revealed total. Congratulations Mike in NC!
OOPS, my apologies to Mike, (meostamps). You are absolutely right and will receive this page of stamps promptly.
There seems to be an issue with the site, as right now I just happened to read part of this discussion and scrolling back, I can only see the first message as being from Cheryl @ 56¢, which is very strange. Obviously that is what happened last night when the contest ended.
Michael (Roth), I may have issues with running a contest, but reading what is written on the bottom of this page, to me it says "Catalog Value" with the price of $1.03 next to it, so what would you take that to mean? As part of the introduction to this quiz I said guess the catalog value that is showing on the bottom of the page, period. What is the issue you have with that? No tricks, no cards up my sleeve, just a simple statement for a quick, simple, easy, fun contest, with a prize of about $25.00 (current value), of which you have yet to put forth for the SOR membership to enjoy. If you don't enjoy this type of entertainment, don't participate.
Congratulations again Mike.
Mike
In the previous message I mention part of the discussion was missing from this item, so I just reloaded this discussion and was able to see the whole message, from the initial message all the way through to my previous message, so obviously it is a random thing that happens.
I just went back, again to see about the missing parts and this time I can only see my own message that says, "Not in any certain order, but wrong, wrong, wrong. tic, tic, toc." So, is it my computer or the what? I don't know, that's for sure.
Again, my apologies and congratulations to Mike.
Mike
I don't think it is your computer, Mike. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. Once, I came across a post which was in violation of one of the rules (cannot remember which at the moment), and I went to the rules page to copy the pertinent section to message the members posting. However, when I got back to the thread, the offending post was gone (at least on my screen). So I let the matter drop. However, later that same day, the post was back! Of course, it never actually went away, it just didn't come up on my screen.
Maybe it is my browser, maybe my biorhythm is out of whack, or maybe the senior moments are becoming more frequent.
Bobby,
I'm certainly glad that I am not the only one those type of things happens to and I feel your pain. I can't tell you how many times, when I was a member of the "employed", that I would call the home office and explain what was happening on my computer, only to hear, "never had that problem before." It used to drive the IT team nuts and they would usually just over-night me a new computer, one of which ended up in Romulus, Michigan, not SW Florida. Took two days to get it and we were supposed to sit on our hands and not do "paper work" at all.
Mike
Mike, thank you for your making me the winner of this sheet with my .95 guess. Your generosity is appreciated.
Mike in NC / meostamps
Mike, you are more than welcome, but I didn't make you the winner, your guess did that. LOL I hope you can find some goodies from that sheet to go into your album and use some for trading.
Mike
Here is something different in the way of a quiz. I ran across this old bid sheet and was amazed at the value the seller put on these 15 stamps, that must have been laying around for several decades. One of these stamps is not even in my two latest Scott's catalogs and the only hint I will give is, "there is no a".
Guess the value hidden under the Green tag and you will win this sheet of Australian stamp itself.
Good guessing,
Mike
