Now that you mention it, they are strikingly similar. At first glance it seems that the South Australia Stamps are more ornamented, most notably on the sides of the design.
On second glance, the queen looks much more severe on the South Australian stamps, than her more serene and cherubic pose on the Nova Scotia stamp.
Thank you so much for the image. It's so hard to tell just looking at the catalogue. The Nova Scotia issues were printed by the American Bank Note Company. I wonder about the original proofs, could they have been designed by the same person? It's just amazing to me to see such similarity between two issues that are from two very different locations. Of course when looking at QV issues, no matter from what area of the Empire, we are going to see similarities in designs but it was just at first glance seeing the framework in Scott really caught me off guard and piqued my intrigue.

Thanks so much Roy! Interesting that when I saw the Gambia sample, my mind immediately pulled up Helogoland.
That is an excellent book you have there
I was just looking at my catalogue and noticed that the South Australia Scott Design #A2 and #A6a look identical Nova Scotia Design #A3.
Does anyone have the South Australia issues and the Nova Scotia issues to compare the prints? Is it possible that they are in fact identical prints?
I have the Nova Scotia A3 design in all the varieties of shades, papers, etc. and I'm quite intrigued with the South Australia design (I do not have any to compare).
