When does an auction actually close?

I see an auction lot that shows the following

Posting Time: Thu 10th April 2014 13:25:55
Current Time: Tue 15th April 2014 13:29:31
Closing Time:
All times are in USA Eastern Time Tue 15th April 2014 13:25:55

As you can see the auction is still open 4 minutes after the closing time.

There was no last minute bid.

re: Auction Closing Time

It is probably due to a last minute bid. If a last minute bid is placed it delays the end of the auction.

Yes, I believe the auctions end on the quarter hour, following the posted time.

Hi Mike,
You are correct. There is a program that runs every 15 mins that looks for lots that can be closed.

From what I've seen the closing time is enforced correctly so you can't make a bid after the posted closing time but before the lot has been marked as closed.

that's correct Nigel. the auction is separate from notifications that the auction has closed.

re: Auction Closing Time

Personally I think the Auction works great. The Auctioneer is to be commended for the terrific job he is doing. Keep up the good work and don't do like some of the other Online stamp Club sites have done and turn it all over to EBAY or merge with EBAY.

Thanks Chuck
