Antonio, this is what stamp collecting (or the more intimidating "philately) is all about! You are a great example of how to spread the word and how to infuse in others the spirit of our hobby. Keep it up!

Well done Antonio. You obviously enjoyed the stamp show. I had a good time there also. That was the first of those shows that I have been to. I'll make a habit of going in the future.

Great Job! You are hired as a recruiter. Thank You for spreading the word. I'll let the guys know Tues Eve. when I see a couple of them at the Minnesota Postal History club meeting.
In the past week I have brought in three new members for the Northern Philatelic Library. One of them has already done the shocking thing of checking out books from the library.
At the stamp show this weekend a gentleman walked up to a dealer I was speaking with and asked if he had a certain book. When the dealer said he did not, I chimed in and advised him regarding the Nothern Philatelic Library. I could see his eyes light as soon as I mentioned it (as did mine when I came to fully appreciate the library myself). The dealer then got him an application form (which I was not aware were around) and then someone else saw him filling it out and started talking to him about the library as well.
Then I got to talking to the dealer about the books we have and he said he had books we didn't have but that he could give to us. He then signed up right then and there as a member of the Northern Philatelic Library as well.
Last week I was looking at a picture of an old promissary note with attached revenue stamp during a break from work. A coworker was walking by and thought it was really cool. At the stamp show this weekend one dealer had a box of turn-of-the-century checks with battleship revenues. I spent about ten minutes trying to pick out the best one for my coworker to give as a gift and maybe get her interested in philately. She was very surprised at the gift and at first wouldn't accept it until I told her it only cost $2. And it appears my work picking out the right check was worth it, as it was dated on her birthdate (which I had not previously known). She made sure to advise me it was just the date and not the year of 1898.
So my conclusion is that philately is best when you can share it.
