Local standard post rates go up to 70c per item from the 31st March The international rates are not changing at the moment to the US ,$2-60 for first 50 grams then $6-45 for 51 grams up to 250 grams.
They are talking about concessions for pensions ,letting them have 50 stamps a year at 60c,
wonder if they will offer pensioners the same discount next time they increase the international rate?Laughing

re: Australian Postage Rates

70c per item in itself seems like a lot of money to send an envelop. We at the moment in the US are at 49c per item. I'm remembering back to 1975 when my dear old Dad died. Back then a stamp cost 10c and my Dad, who was the Deputy Director of the Department of Dairying for the NSW Government, was earning $19,000. A pretty good wage back then. If you extrapolate that out to current day, using the 70c stamp as a measure, my Dad would be earning $133,000, which on Australian values and for the job that he was doing, is probably not too far off. Maybe Australia Post isn't too far off in their pricing. Happy

Regards ... Tim.

re: Australian Postage Rates

Could be why the USPS is in such dire straights? 49c is pretty cheap.

They make it up in/on every other category.......

The clerks are trained to try and upsell every transaction..... If you get the right clerk, that .49c letter will be $133.00 Express Priority Insured w/ return receipt...
