I would like to see a s. sheet category
What about placing them into the Topical section (at least for now)?
You could also list the book as: "U. S. souvenir sheets" or Canada souvenir sheets, for example, without the need for another category. That title would explain what country and the subject, plain and simple.
Just a suggestion.
Mike
James,
I think Mike's idea is a good one. Would that work for you?
Regards ... Tim.
Well, I thought that there would be a lot more interest in Booklets and Souvenir Sheets. I guess I was wrong. One for and two, while not outright opposed, offered a different solution. Given those odds I withdraw my suggestion.
Jack,
I don't think I would base much on the responses you got from the Discussion Board, since most people never respond to anything there. They have a tendency to read it and keep on, moving on, as it were. Give the Approvals a try, with say a dozen or so S/S and/or booklets. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I've sold a lot of S/S in the auction, but haven't tried the Approval books at all.
Mike
It is my experience that very few collectors collect just "souvenir sheets", so a selection of worldwide souvenir sheets would likely get little response. Same is true of booklets.
Most of your buyers of s/s and booklets would be country or topical collectors for whom that particular item made sense.
So, a selection of "Caribbean souvenir sheets", or "German souvenir sheets", or "Canada complete booklets", or "Wildlife souvenir sheets" would make sense for the buyers, and would be appropriately placed in the British Commonwealth, Germany, Canada or Topical categories.
In other words, in defining collector interest, country or topic more often takes precedence over format of the stamp.
Roy
I agree completely Roy. I'm interested in S/S from the point if view that they are part of the country that I'm currently focusing on. One of my focus countries is New Zealand and there are lots of S/S from New Zealand. I'd be interested in seeing a book of S/S from NZ.
Regards ... Tim
Hello Tim and All,
I was just testing the waters on my Booklet and S/S Category suggestion and obviously I lost in that it failed to garner much support. That is not a problem. I can live with the fact that there was not enough support to warrant a new Category. I have no problem putting my Booklets and S/Ss in their proper country category. Cactusjack,
I have an idea that might be of some help I'll send you a PM.

I would like to put forth a suggestion or at least run it past the membership. That is, adding a new category to the Approval Books. I have a large number of Booklets and Souvenir Sheets. Is there enough interest in collecting Booklets and Souvenir Sheets to add it as a new category? Yes, you can list them with their country of issue. Currently if one was looking for Souvenir Sheets you would have to search through 290 books (and growing daily) to find them. Given an average of 10 pages per book that would be 2,900 pages to search. That is such a formidable task that few to no one would attempt it. Covers fall under the same category (different use of category here). That is, covers could be listed by country. But there is sufficient interest in covers to have their own category. I understand that. My question is, is there enough interest in Booklets and Souvenir Sheets to give them a separate category? Just a question for the membership.
