But, As the saying goes, "you aint seen nothing yet!" Just wait until I have some spare time to do some scaning.
Erik,
The approval books man-the approval books!!
Cheez-so tough to get attention these days.

Dan,is that R112d one that I traded you? I guess I should have checked it more closely. Glad I could add to your collection if it is one I traded to you.
Sponthetrona2,
That is my R112, and it has been living in my collection for about 20 years.
Perry and Eric,
R112 faces to the left(type R13) The one shown by Eric here is facing to the right(a type similar to R13a, but different)
The one you Perry swapped me is an #R112- not sewing machine perfed, not facing right.
The one shown by Eric is not even listed in Scott's Specialized 2009
Best,
Dan C.
"R112 faces to the left(type R13) The one shown by Eric here is facing to the right(a type similar to R13a, but different)"
O.K.-time to teach me how to describe more accurately. Eric, as I look at R112 type R13 I see it facing left. When you describe the facing, are you doing it medically (where the observer positions himself as if to be looking at himself)? If so, then yes, the vignette is facing to the right. If not, then the vignette is facing left, no?
Dan C.
On an envelope do you put the stamp in the top right or left. If it is the right then good old G.W. is facing right. If it's the left then I can't help you. All kidding aside, As far as I am aware every catalog uses the viewers point of view.
O.K. we are in agreement here.
This statement is giving us the problem:
"R112 faces to the left(type R13) The one shown by Eric here is facing to the right(a type similar to R13a, but different)"
R112 faces to the left then(viewers position) The one you showed faces to the right. Similar to type R13a but different.
Are you saying that there are R112's that also face to the right although not shown in Scott's?
Dan C.
I haven't bought a Scott's in years, as I am not concerned with the value. In the past they always stated that the designs were similar. I do not not know what value they are using for the design picture these days. You have to look at the face value of the stamp. That series and the 3rd series uses left and right facing portraits, depending on the face value. I could post a pic of the full 2nd and 3rd series if you like. I have both complete.
OMG-that would be fabulous for us to have to supplement Scott's Specialized in that area. Please consider tucking it into an article so that we can archive it for future readers. We post the articles here on SOR, and then preserve them for the future.
Thank you for that offer-it is most appreciated.
Best,
Dan C.
Dan,
See post 2nd and 3rd Issue US Revenues.
In response to a comment posted elsewhere about not enough pic's. I will posting some pic's of a few less common Revenue stamps from my collection. I will add more if their is an interest.
1st is what at first look looks like a standard R112. However it is a "R112d" Sewing Machine Perf." It is unknown how many actually still exist.
Bulk or Pipe Tobacco

Rectified Spirits
