Hi Grant,
I'll take a look at it.
Regards ... Tim.
Actually the choices at the bottom of the invoice are somewhat confusing to me.
"Mark as paid", and "Mark as received" may mean different things to different people.
Does the first mean that the sender has sent the payment and considers it paid, or that the seller has payment and that part of the transaction is complete.
The second "Toggle" is equally open to confusion.
Does it mean the payment was received or the stamps were received ?
For the buyer, I suggest that the two toggles should be "Payment Sent" and "Stamps Received."
I haven't sold any stamps so I do not know what the seller sees on his screen, but "Payment received" and "Stamps sent" would seem like a good choice.
I hate to admit it but several times I have received stamps from the auction and in my fuzzy mind seem to have concluded that the payment must have been sent and received by the seller, only to discover a week or two later that the seller had been kind enough to have forwarded the stamps almost upon the lot closing.
One cause is that for inexpensive lots, I like to wait till the total is enough to justify the postage cost. At times I have had five or so open tabs that re being increased as additional lots close.
I then have to do a mad scramble through my notes to see if payment was sent and simply is still in the mail stream or did I screw up again. In my world, it would been better if the stamps weren't sent till he payment was received.
I can't imagine me getting confused thirty or forty years ago, but those days are gone forever.
Charlie,
The "Mark Paid" and "Mark Received" are viewed from the buyers point of view. You are viewing them from the "My Invoices" program so it is for the buyer to mark the invoices as paid when they send the money and received when they receive the stamps in the mail.
Grant,
I do think your suggestion for the seller to note that the shipment has been sent is a good one. I'm looking at that now.
Regards ... Tim.
Grant and all,
I have implemented Grant's request this morning, changing the Invoicing program so that the Seller can note that the invoice has been shipped. When this occurs the buyer is emailed accordingly. This required more changes than I anticipated. If you find something in the invoicing function that doesn't seem to work please let me know.
Regards ... Tim.
Thank you Tim,
Will let you know ASAP after the next invoice.
Again Greatly appreciate the time you put into the site.

" ....The "Mark Paid" and "Mark Received" are viewed from the buyers point of view. ..."
Of course, I understand that. However, the invoice is not "PAID" when a check or $10.00 is placed in the mail, it is only "SENT". It is paid when cash or check arrives or when the seller is satisfied that the check has cleared.
The "MARK RECEIVED" works okay except that every time I am about to tap it the stray thought passes through my mind that it should be "Item" received, not Deutschmarks. But that is just silly semantics that I have not been able to bar from my conscious.
Since I have little interest in selling I have no access to what the seller sees,.
Do they have a toggle for "Payment received" or "Item mailed" ???
Quite often I have had to send a note and ask if the "Payment" was received or not.
Ordinarily when I receive the stamps or cover, I assume that the payment was actually received, occasionally to discover that that is not the case. I suspect that some mail sent to British Columbia gets routed by way of Bogata, Columbia a further side trip to Britain. I can't prove this theory, but look forward to the day when I get a cover back with appropriate back stamps.
I have another theory that some mail to "Salt Island, BC" goes by way of Salt Lake City, but have no proof of that either.
Charlie
Tim,
Thanks for another great addition to the auction .

Looks good! No errors and shipping info saved in the invoice list, even after closed.
Thanks again Tim.

Worked perfect for me also

Hi Tim,
Was wondering if there was a way to have a invoice to be marked as shipped?
Currently, the only way to communicate with a buyer that it has been shipped is through messaging or email. I think they would appreciate a heads up...?
Maybe when the invoice is closed by the seller a shipping email gets sent?
(Doesn't need to have a bunch of information added, tracking number...blah blah blah)
Thanks
Grant
