Roy, the bottom cover is from Western Sahara. It was issued by the Polisario Front (Popular Front for the Liberation of the Saguia el Hamra and Rio de Oro), an organization seeking independence for the region. The territory has been under dispute since 1975. The Polisario Front, like other similar political and military organizations claiming jurisdiction over a territory, issue stamps to try to legitimize, or bring to the public eye, their claim as the rightful governing authority over that territory.
The top cover from "Karabakh", is one of those issues that came out when the former Soviet Union broke apart and all those "ikistan" republics came to be. Karabakh is an unrecognized republic in the Caucasus. It is part of Azerbaijan, but under Armenian control.
Thanks Michael. Great info, as always.

I beg to differ about the naming of these two items as 'Fantasy' while at the same time fully understanding why the poster did so.
It is often very difficult to categorize such stamps as these, with so little concrete information available.
However, neither of these can be termed 'Fantasy' in any case, because both places exist, irrespective of whether they issue stamps or not.
The former (Karabakh) stamp is actually listed by some catalogues because of much evidence of postal use. The main criteria for Gibbons listing in their catalogues, for example, is for evidence of postal use.
Karabakh stamps have also been accepted by the UPU since 2004, I believe. (but don't quote me on that).
The latter is Bogus or Propaganda as there is no UN or UPU recognition although the territory/area does exist. On the positive side, some African and other world nations do recognize western Sahara (SADR).
It should be noted that not all stamps of Karabakh are legit, indeed most are not. Both regions can be found in Cinderella lists under Bogus/Propaganda.
Fantasy stamps are generally thought to be issues from non-existent 'countries' or places such as Gilligan's Island, Vue, Agartha, Ankh Morpork, Atlantis or Wonderland (to name but a few).
Having said that, Delcampe have a list under topicals for 'Fantasy' stamps that is not moderated and has many of the bogus/propaganda issues like those shown above.
Happy collecting, whatever it may be.

Examples of Fantasy stamps.
Just a bit of fun !!

I suppose both of the following are fantasy issues (as recently discussed in another thread).
Anybody have any background on them?
