ddos = Distributed Denial of Service (i.e. an intentional overload of requests to a network, intended to swamp its capacity to respond, generated from many computers at once).

The hosting company continues to deal with problems in their network resulting from the attaches that they experienced earlier in the day. They are having to reboot network switches to make required changes. The SOR website may be up and down a bit this evening.

Oh and thanks for explaining the "ddos" thingy before I asked.
I remember something about "DOS" this or"Dos" that years ago seemed to give different computers fits and starts. But I guess that is over now.

i, too, want to thank you, Roy, for your contributions to our site, both its server, which you give to us, as well as its maintenance. For folks who don't know, Roy was our president and largely responsible for moving us from paper to our current mode. Tim takes what Roy begat and shapes it into a remarkable thing: two fabulous visionaries. thank you both.
