American Philatelist, Linn's, Philatelic Literature Review, Auxiliary Markings and Military Postal History. I really miss Global Stamp News. Used to get Stamps from England but costs just got too high. Do I read them all cover to cover? No, but I scan everything and read what really grabs me. AP and PLR are now available online, and I generally read PLR online, but not always. I'm a "whatever grabs me" reader. Laughing

I read Linn's online.

I have a lot of back issues of BNA topics that were recently left to me. They are really intersting. Plus I have dozens of odds and ends of philatelic magazines and papers that I have picked up at stamp shows, or have had given to me. Some aren't to do with anything I collect, but I enjoy reading them anyhow.

I know they aren't "publications" but I also have about 200 assorted reference books and catalogues that I read like novels. Some of them are about postcard collecting as well.

Hotchner did an article in his column in Linn's about how he's amassed 6 file cabinets full of clippings from philatelic magazines, organized by topic, country, or whatever, feeling, correctly in my view, that an organized filing system is worth more than a demi-decade of intact magazines.

When I read an article like Hotchner's I look for some place to hide. For years I clipped & copied (especially newsprint items) but I am not that organized so that a few years ago in a frenzy of cleaning/trying to organize I gave up and chucked everything into the magic circular file. Then I bought a computer & scanner and have regretted my "chucking" ever since. At Wits End

I've been scanning a lot of the publications related to my worldwide airmail collection. I have the 1959-60 (637 pgs) and the 1966 (1,365 pgs) editions of Sanabria's airmail catalogs and working on making a copy of the Volume I 1972 edition. I also have computer copies of all of the Sanabria Air Post News journals. I even have a computer copy of the 1954 Silombra Airmail catalog that was published in France.
Happy

I love reading & re-reading all of those old stories that were the headliners of the day! It really helps that the computer copies are in the Adobe PDF format, so I can zoom in on the details. It is nice to be able to cut and paste descriptions & such to my home-made album pages as well.

Readers of stamp publications:

I feel inadequate and jealous when I read what you are reading. I read
everything from tide tables to court circulars, but especially newspapers.
It is all I can do to keep up with the daily offerings on Stamporama's
discussion board.

Anecdotal observation: philatelic news of significance and insignificance appears in the news media
before it appears in philatelic publications. Perhaps news reporters and editors collect stamps.

I did not include them in my list since they generally are not periodical in nature. I also like to read the Regency Superior auction catalogs. The descriptions of each lot are very informative especially when there are pictures associated with the description. You can also see the results of the auction on line.

re: What stamp related publications do you read ?

I did not include them in my list since they generally are not periodical in nature. I also like to read the Regency Superior auction catalogs. The descriptions of each lot are very informative especially when there are pictures associated with the description. You can also see the results of the auction on line.
