I thought I'd share some of the more interesting (to me!) revenues I've collected. I generally do not collect revenue stamps but my friend and Stamporama member here, Rick Lokos, convinced me that this vast area of collection is in dire need of my attention. Happy

The first is a mint overprinted NZ stamp, for Rarotonga, which was later named the Cook Islands. Although not necessarily "rare" it is only one of two I've managed to obtain.

The next is one I can't identify beyond the fact that it is an Indian Provincial, Berars (although the stamp is marked "Berar" without the "s"). In Barefoot, the definitive Commonwealth revenue catalogue, they note that these provincial stamps are overprinted with the name, but here, it is clearly part of the design. So I have no reference for this; if you do, that would help me!

Lastly, I'm sure you will appreciate a Beer Tax stamp! Also from NZ.

Here is a link for info on your NZ 1883 Beer stamp. Listed down towards the bottom of the page, about 20% from the end.

Thanks Mike; that's much more descriptive than Barefoot's listing!

Anyone know about the India stamp?

Here is what I can find on the Berar stamp. The thread seems to go off topic about 1/2 way down but the stamp in question is mentioned at the start. Sorry, no value given.

Peter, the first may not be rare, but it is Raro than most.

I raise a stein to the nein penny fiscal in the hopes i can get some hops from the full three gallons, which seems a bargain in my book.

David, I know, 9d for 3 gallons! Party like it's 1880 at Stamporama! Party

I know, I know, that's the tax, not the cost of the beer. But we can dream ... Day Dreaming
