I have been collecting stamps commemorating the 75th anniversary (in 1949) of the Universal Postal Union for only 10 years. Still missing a few items, but I did acquire an interesting item last week that I thought I would share.

Here is a presentation folder that was issued in India honoring the event. I would be interested to find out how many of these folders were issued.

I think the omnibus design is one of the most attractive stamp designs. I finally completed my British Commonwealth omnibus collection a couple of years ago, and started adding other "alternative design" and non-BC country UPU commemoratives. This is my hardest, and most treasured, of this series.

I believe the Specimen set is quite uncommon.

It looks like a nice topical...they all seem cut and dried until you discover all the peripheral material thats not in the normal catalogs. Thats where the fun begins.. My wife collects forerunners and sympathy issues relating to Europa stamps..and believe me there is no end to it !!!Confused

Great items and I really like the page they are on as well. Is that a White Ace page? White Ace doesn't currently offer a 75th UPU Anniversary set of pages. Too bad, as they would be of interest to me and others as well I am sure.

Yes, Brad.... the border design for my pages is the old White Ace design. My collection is currently mounted on approximately 160 pages for which I designed the layouts. I would certainly be glad to share the layouts with any others who are interested. Just send me a member message.

After 10 years, I thought I had completed my collection for this topic. However, last week I found a couple more items. These are Air Letter Sheets (Aerogrammes) for Israel (Higgins & Gage #8) and for Japan (Higgins & Gage #4).

It is really satisfying to find new, unexpected material for long standing collections.

Cheers,
Terry
