For the more recent catalogs, generally you take the retail price of the catalog and reduce the price by 50% for each year that it is out of date. I don't remember what the 2011 cost, but there are 3 editions since. For example, if it cost $75 in 2011, then it would cost around $10 per volume today.
2011 = $75
When 2012 catalogs were issued, 2011 = $37.50
When 2013 catalogs were issued, 2011 = $18.75
When 2014 catalogs were issued, 2011 = $9.38
One could argue that the 2014 catalogs are not all issued yet, so the price should be $18.75 per volume. I think your final negotiated price should be somewhere between $9.38 and $18.75 per volume. For 2014, Volumes 1 through 3 have been issued.

The list price of the 2011 Scott Standard WW catalog (6 volumes), according to the back cover, is $79.99 per volume. I never had the 2011 US Specialized, so I cannot give you that list price.

I think that the rising price of the current Scott catalogs is driving the used market up. I used to buy new every other year but now go every third year and may change to 4. Over the years, I have watched the dealer prices for older years and the drop in price is way less than your numbers. The first year is much less than 50%. The current catalogs list for $119. Based on an $80 list in 2011, I think that 70, 55, 35 would be a more accurate set of numbers. Then there would be a negotiation on shipping costs. Dealers are getting 10% shipping and handling. I would think a collector would do actual cost with UPS probably the cheapest.
If any of my words in my postings sound strange, try adding an "H". For some reason, my keyboard leaves off that letter and I don't always catch all of them.

The free shipping for that listing is only within US. Anywhere else, and the shipping will be a big chunk of change, as Golovacz has observed.

Scott Catalogs....I remember posting these comments some years back.
Just brought them out of Archives as they still seem applicable.
I will post with just a few minor edits. My position has not changed.

Same with Scott album pages. Or they will not survive.
(Think about the potential revenue stream if they did...especially for album pages!!)
To do that, they will have to stop producing a yearly printed catalog and they will have to implement on-demand printing, and on line or cd-Rom products that could be sold piece by piece.
They can also update and sell continuously, year round, as material becomes available, and sell just the updated data. Time and relevance!
When my company's business model changed, we adapted for some products, and closed the rest. No wishful hoping. We did it in as short as three months. Face reality and adapt. They will have to do the same.
Change or perish, you old dinosaur! 
Unfortunately, I am not optimistic!
Maybe we should write letters much more critical and in their face, than being too nice to them as I see suggested? ""

I have to agree with you Rrr, especially about Bill Steiner's album pages. They work very well. I have found a few situations that Bill didn't cover in his album pages where I have used the AlbumEasy program to create an album page for the specific situation that comes out looking just like one of Bill Steiner's pages so it fits right in and looks like it was meant to be there.

And, I will add, at somewhere a little south of the Tiffany prices they are charging right now. However, if they price themselves out of business, I won't shed a tear.

They will have to do a better job with their album pages. In all areas there are too many countries omitted from their albums (including their incomplete "International") as well as doing a better job by not missing so many issues.
They don't think about potential revenue. When I talk to them about things like this, they talk about revenue lost from lower sales. They are not even in the mindset of making a profit, just minimizing losses. That's why I often say that Scott and the USPS have the same business mentality.
I subscribe to Steiner's pages, and I get the CD of the pages each year. I use those pages for stamps and countries not included in albums by Scott, and I also use the Stenier pages to condense back-of-book material that Scott puts one stamp on a page where I can get them all on one or two pages with Steiner. When one collects the world, shelf space is at a premium. I have often thought about printing out the Stenier pages one country at a time. Just the thought of time and expense of remounting 300,000 stamps dissuades me.

I went to our local library and put my name on the list for purchasing copies that are taken off the shelf. I purchased the whole 2011 set incl US specialized for $70. Couldn't beat that price as well I helped out the local library..

I purchased my Scott cat. from FVH auctions in Vancouver,BC. Very easy to deal with and the set was a fair price. They were in perfect condition. I purchase any supplies I need from them as well. Great folks to deal with.

I know it would be expensive at the beginning, but I would like to see Scott do loose leaf pages that went into ordinary binders. They could be punched with multiple holes to fit 3 or 4 rings.
Then have bundles that you could buy, ( North America ) ( Asia ) etc, to save a bit of money, or you could just buy the countries that you wanted. Or just "X" amount for one country, and discounts if you buy multiply countries. Right up to a good price if you want the world wide.
Then every year or even two years, just sell the new pages seperately for each country and add them into your binders.
They could also offer special on Scott Binders that you could put your pages into if you didn't want just plain binders.

Does anyone have an idea what5 a 7 volume used set of Scott 2011 catalogs would be worth? I'm buying a 14 set and don't want to have to mortgage my house.
