Nice margins, Sharyn.
I look forward to the day when I can add that issue to my early G.B. AND my #1's!
Thanks for the look!
I haven't bought anything for myself as yet, but I usually do....much to my wife's chagrin....lol
Randy
I am thinking of ordering some books from the History Book Club, among which will be, a copy of William Manchester book, vol ll, "The Last Lion."
I will wrap it up and slip it over to one of the younger kids as if it was from them.
I'v done that before.
Hi Randy,
I decided I must have the first stamp. That's the one that started it all.
Zipper
With all the medical problems I have had this year, I think I'm going to buy me a new body.
For North Pole Headquarters:
REINDEER ALERT - Kris Kringle can fly over my chimney without stopping.
At a stamp auction last month I had the winning bid ($17.00) for a used (VF) copy of the "Encyclopaedia of World Stamps 1945-1975", by James A MacKay, published in 1976.
Wanted this coffee-table sized reference because of its superb photographs in full colour of thousands of stamps. An unexpected bonus, the text surpasses the images in quality; author MacKay has forgotten more than I will ever know about postage stamps. He must have been a former editor of a newsmagazine for no words are wasted, and every sentence spare, articulate and fact-filled. I'm an out-of-the-closet newspaper/magazine/book junkie and this is the best Christmas present I ever gave myself.
John Derry
P.S. I've set out a bowl of humbugs in case any Stamporama members drop in during the Yuletide.
I was a good boy this year!
Roy
Yes Roy, you certainly were! If you ever feel the itch to send those to a new home - I just live a bit down the road
Beautiful pair you picked up there! The margins and postmark - WOW!!!!
Kelly
wow, Roy, those are fabulous! Any chance you'll show us your other favorite treasures someday?
What a beautiful pair you got there, Roy!
" ..... With all the medical problems I have had this year, I think I'm going to buy me a new body. ....."
Think of it this way, Michael, medical problems are a sure indicator you are still among us.
Amen.
Those 2 beauties need to be added to our Penny Page. Looks like Roy already had a "CC".
I replaced my old Durland Catalog with the latest one.
Bob
My wife and I usually take a Christmas/New Years cruise, but this year we are buying ourselve a new Armstrong wooden floor for the kitchen and family room. (I might still sneak out and buy some stamps, but don't mention that to her.)
Mike
Wow Great christmas presents you guys gave yourself
I haven´t given myself anything this christmas, I´m saving money up for next year´s present
Roy,
Only Dolly Parton has a better looking pair. Nice stamps.
I picked up another US #277
Bought myself an iPad and a very nice Canada cover
Lee
Anti-biotics!!
My wife got bronchitis and I got pneumonia. Two Christmasses in a row.
Leery of seeing Christmas time now
Katanaman
My wife and I bought a couple dozen chickens, a beehive, a pair of milking goats and six pigs but no partridges or pear trees. Every year instead of buying something at Christmas that we probably don't need we donate to Heifer International.
My 2012 Durland Catalog has paid off already. While going through Plate Blocks, I found I had 3 Scott 1592 (10c Americana) Plate Blocks of Plate 37246 with Dull Gum. This Plate with Dull Gum is valued at $100. All the other plates are valued at $1. It was not even listed in my 1997-1998 Catalog.
Bob
I bought myself a 33 amp power supply for my model railroad!
I bought an Antique "Montgomery Ward" kitchen scale. It should actually arrive by the end of this week. I collect antique scales.
Clayton,
Post us a picture of the scale when it arrives.
Regards ... Tim
What, so no one wants to see my power supply all-metal box with 9 terminal screws on one end? Yeah, I want to see the scale too!
Michael,
I DO, I DO!!!
Randy
Well, there it is!
Great Ps Michael, but can I see a photo of the railroad? Is it set up?
Yes, the layout is permanent in a two-car garage. I have many pictures, but they are too large to upload here as is. I'll work on a few and upload them on a new thread. In the meantime, several years ago, my layout was one of several featured on short video that is on You Tube. Here's the link:

I have added much more scenery to the layout since the video was made.
And here is a small scale that also just arrived.
I like the little one!
I bought myself this:
