after being the NOVICE here and trying a bottle of "Stamp Lift Fluid," I'm not to thrilled with it or how the stamps turn out. Luckily I don't have any stamps that I can't lose. But my question...

I wonder if I'm using/applying it wrong. The stamps sometime soak up the stuff and end up discolored, even after drying out.

Any words words of advice, or just dump the stuff?

Thanks

re: discoloring stamps after using Stamp Lift

If the stamp is on colored paper, cardboard, etc., then when it is soaked with Stamp Lift Fluid or simply water, the dies in the paper will leech into the stamp. You did not describe your process, so I can't say for certain what happened.

Michael,

with the small brush (provided w/fluid

I dip it in the fluid and then brush on paper. I try to dab off some liquid before actually applying it, but then it doesn't do anything, so I have to use a bit more, then the stamp just soaks it up and dries, stained.

Thanks

But you didn't provide information regarding which stamp, what paper it was on. Some stamps have water soluble ink and some papers have color dies that bleed into the stamp being soaked. Stamp Lift fluid is nothing more than distilled water with a tiny drop of liquid dish detergent.

Clayton,

I also had the same results as you, so have discontinued using that product.

Hi Clayton,

I agree with Mike, I had poor results and got rid of the rest of the bottle.

Take care!

I too had problems using it. I tried it with various papers, non-coloured & stamps that generally do not lose their colouring nor do the colours run when soaked & every trial I did ruined the stamps. I followed the directions for using it to the "T" & said forget it.
I suppose everyone has different experiences with various products but that is one I'll never use again or recommend to anyone.

re: discoloring stamps after using Stamp Lift

Thank you all, I spent last evening with a small tray, water and a drop or two of liquid dish soap. Works Great. Much better than the Stamp Lifting Fluid, and it didn't cost me anything.

Thanks everyone for the help..
