Everything has a value to someone, somewhere.

Or do you man "listing"?

re: Australia: Counter printed stamps not listed in Scott. Value?

This is another victim of Scott's Listing Policy Clause 6. Since these were not issued in quantities and were sold only at a select few Post Offices these does not fulfil the clause.
I do have almost a complete collection of the Nocturnal Animals and Koalas/Roos CPS issues, just lacking a few overprinted sets from 1999-2004. All the sets I have are with letter rate denominations although these could be printed for higher denominations at the counter. But these were sold only in sets therefore the response was purely philatelic and the experiment was given up.
For the set above there were 5 different overprints commemorating different events but for the Koalas & Kangaroos definitives there were 46 different commemorative overprints - that is the list I have, there could be a few more. I have all except three of these 46 sets with the years 2001-2004 in denominations of 49c and 50c.
These stamps are listed in Michel catalog so if you can get a copy or someone has Michel catalog and post here the scans or a list it would be wonderful. Like all the low quantity issues these are priced well above other common stamps of the era and are difficult to obtain except from specialized Aussie dealer.

What you have shown is a FDC of the very first set and thisis of value. Forget Scott and save/collect these and these are legitimate AusPost issues.

re: Australia: Counter printed stamps not listed in Scott. Value?

Just checked at eBay USA, there are a bunch of these sets on offer and in the range of US $6-$7 or thereabouts pre set, FDCs are more expensive. For some sets I have to pay more as those were less common.

Saleem, thank you so much for your help. As to your salt water/stamps comparison, I prefer to compare stamps to potato chips or peanuts. As to the salty dog, I don't know.

re: Australia: Counter printed stamps not listed in Scott. Value?

The salt water/stamps comparison is more true in this case of my buying these CPS sets!! There were other things I had to get for my Aussie collection but I opted for these and now I'm thirsty for more.

Here is the Scott Listing Policy clause '6'-
"Intentional varieties, such as imperforate stamps that look like their perforated counterparts and are usually issued in very small quantities. Also, other egregiously exploitative issues such as stamps sold for far more than face value, stamps purposefully issued in artificially small quantities or only against advance orders, stamps awarded
only to a selected audience such as a philatelic bureau’s standing order customers, or stamps sold only in conjunction with other products. All of these kinds of items are usually controlled issues and/or are intended for speculation. These items normally will be included in a footnote
."

re: Australia: Counter printed stamps not listed in Scott. Value?

These stamps were produced for specific events or Expo's, the stamps themselves were pre-printed, then the literal was printed onsite as they were released from the machine,
my catalogue at http://australianstrampcatalogue.com has these and many others listed.
although the basic stamp was produced in quantity, the literals printed on them are not as numerous, some are even very hard to find

Scott does list some of these, but not all, usually as minor varieties. This includes other countries as well, such as PR China. I don't know their criteria for when to or not to list. Another inconsistency of Scott.
